From Dr. Gruman

Dear Northwest Families,

We enjoyed a wonderful evening as we celebrated our graduates from the Class of 2023 last night! We are grateful for everyone who was able to join us to recognize this amazing class.

Our students started their final exams today and will conclude those on Tuesday, May 23rd. Our last day is an early dismissal at 1:10 with buses leaving shortly thereafter. Please contact us if you are finding your student needs any additional supports during this time.

We have had a really great year with our students and are excited to spend time preparing for next school year! We want you to enjoy the summer and the slower pace to rest and recharge. We will have a few Cougar Connect newsletters through Smore this summer with important information for your reference. Our offices will be open until June 16, so please reach out as needs arise.

Have a wonderful week!

All the best,

Dr. Lisa Gruman

End of Year Dates

  • May 22 - Finals 2,4,6
  • May 23 - Finals 5, 7
  • May 23 - Last Day / Early Release
  • May 29 - Holiday / Office Closed

Finals Release

Just a reminder that in order to maintain the integrity of our final exams, we will not be taking attendance calls to release students during a scheduled final. All students will remain in class until released by the bell. If students need to leave between finals, please send a dated note with the student name and parent signature. They will leave a note with the administrator when they exit the building. Thank you for your support.

Doodle For Google Winner

One our our outstanding students, Lauren Snyder, has been selected as the 2023 Kansas winner for this year’s Doodle for Google Contest. She was recognized at the Thespian Awards on Monday night and her artwork has been on display in front of the office this week.

Lauren is now eligible to become a National Finalist – and everyone can vote! Public voting is open from May 18 - 25. Congratulations, Lauren! Vote for Lauren here!

Honors and Awards

Tuesday, May 23rd is the last day for students to pick up any awards. This includes winter sports (basketball, cheerleading, etc.), spring sports (girl’s swim/dive, track, etc.), activities (band, choir, etc.), or packets from the Honors and Awards program from Monday, May 1. Pick-up is in room 127 before 7:35, after 2:40, and during travel time of seminar. Students must pick up only their own hardware. After Tuesday, May 23rd, the packets will be recycled and hardware can only be purchased next school year.

Senior Diploma Distribution

Our 2023 Graduates will be able to pick up their diploma on Monday between 8am - 2pm. The Seniors can pull up to the curb on the EAST side of the building and step into the foyer to a table with staff to assist them. This will be the most convenient time for our staff and students, so please encourage your graduate to come on by during this time!
