Superintendent's Message
Loveland Tiger Families,
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, January 5. I appreciate all the thoughtful comments and questions about the financial future of Loveland City Schools. As we discussed at the Town Hall, the district is currently in deficit spending, which means that we are spending more money to pay for staff and services than the federal, state, and local tax revenue we receive. Our Five Year Forecast shows deficit spending for the current fiscal year of $3.7 million. Eliminating our deficit means either bringing in more revenue or cutting costs - and both strategies come with difficult decisions.
It was incredibly helpful to have dozens of people engaged in a community conversation as the district works through these issues. If you were not able to attend the Town Hall, a recording is available on YouTube by following this link.
If you have further questions or thoughts, please send them my way: broadwmi@lovelandschools.org

Love from Loveland to Buffalo
One of our LES 4th graders, Lyla Smith, started an effort to send cards and messages to Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin after his medical emergency during the Bengals game. Classmates at LES created awesome get-well cards, and we invited our community to sign a giant banner at last week’s Town Hall meeting. Thank you to Lyla for showing amazing compassion and taking leadership on this project, and thank you to everyone sending love from Loveland to Buffalo! #beLOVEland
LMS Students Meet Tech Creator
Just before Winter Break, Loveland Middle School students had a great opportunity to learn from tech innovator Josh Feinsilber. While a junior in high school, Feinsilber created Gimkit, a live learning game show that is used as a study tool.
Students had a live video chat with Feinsilber and were able to learn how he took Gimkit from an idea for a high school project to a product being used in the classroom. They learned about innovation and creativity, along with the process of refining a product through multiple iterations.
This chat was a great experiential learning opportunity and a chance to connect classroom learning to real-world success. We appreciate Mr. Feinsilber sharing his time with our students!
100th Day of School Canned Food Drive
LES and LPS are partnering up to try and fill the shelves at the LIFE Food Pantry. LIFE helps families in need in our Loveland community, and stock is running low after the holidays. Grades 1-4 classrooms are being challenged to collect 100 canned goods by the 100th day of school, which is quickly approaching around the beginning of February. Consider supporting LIFE Food Pantry by sending in unexpired canned goods or non-perishable food items. You can find other ways to support LIFE Food Pantry here: https://lifefoodpantry.org/mission/
DAAP Saturday Art Program
Students in grades K-12 interested in visual arts have an opportunity to participate in the Saturday Art Program. Students will connect with future art educators through the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning (DAAP), and have an opportunity to participate in a final exhibition. Learn more and sign-up here: https://daap.uc.edu/community/saturday-art-program.html.
