DECEMBER DATES IN HISTORY
December 5, 1901- Walt Disney was born on the Northwest Side of Chicago. Known for classic films like Pinocchio, Cinderella, Fantasia and numerous theme parks, Disney's life began in a modest home built by his father, Elias. That home still stands today and is being renovated for use as a museum. Take a look.
December 8, 2017- Teams will be gathering for the first district Reading Olympic Competition. Oak Park and River Forest schools will send their winning teams into battle at the Oak Park Public Library. Competition begins at 12:30 in the Veteran's Room.
December 12- Hanukkah Begins at Sundown
December 17, 1903- The Wright Brothers made many failed attempts at flying. In an effort to design wings, the brothers observed and emulated the wings of birds. After adding a moveable rudder, they finally succeeded. Click here and see how aviation as we know it began.
