Expand Your Definition of Reading

I would also suggest you expand your definition of reading to include audio books. Checking out audio books from the public library is a great way to have a shared family story when driving for long car trips to tournaments, family visits, and vacations. And there's powerful research to prove just listening to audio books (not even following along with a book) will boost your child's vocabulary. See the research and some suggestions here.

Reading Week

Our library council came up with the ideas for Reading Week 2016 and the excitement in the building was palpable! There were book trivia questions every morning, dressing up as our favorite book characters, author visits, lunch with authors, mystery guest readers in classrooms, and a decorate your door contest that exceeded everyone's expectations. My apologies for not having photos of EVERY door!
