Hackberry Howl

LOVE-SERVE-CARE
Lesson Learned!
As you all know, we had many many issues; students on wrong busses, students on busses that should not have been, carlines a mile long, buses that could not get in the parking lot because of carline....
But, even with all the stress we kept our focus, we are Hackberry, the school that is about Love, Serve, and Care... I received this email on the second day of school from one of the parents kindergartener that was put on a bus that should not have been.
"I just wanted to thank you so much for how the situation with Braylin was handled today. Everyone worked so well to make sure she was safe and sound and I could not be more appreciative! She actually had a lot of fun riding the bus and was very upset when I told her I was picking her up tomorrow. She really wants to ride the bus now. So I might have to make that happen soon! If my husband will cooperate! Thanks again for today and look forward to seeing you tomorrow!"
The lesson I learned from this is that things don't always go as planned, we make mistakes, but if we respond to the situation with love and kindness, and have a true servants heart the majority of time the person will walk away feeling good about the situation.
Keep Howling!

Solar Eclipse
Teachers,
The Great American Eclipse of 2017 is almost here. This is going to be a memorable experience for our students and something they will always remember! I want to make sure we are fully prepared and have gone over all requirements with our students to prepare for tomorrow. During LE3 time in the morning, I want each grade level to meet with their students as a group and go over the importance of keeping their glasses on at all times when looking at the Solar Eclipse.
In order for students to participate in the Solar Eclipse they MUST have a permission form signed by their parents. Any student that does not have a permission form signed by parents will stay in the classroom with an assigned teacher. I need each grade level to designate one teacher to stay in with the students that cannot participate. We will go out to the open field (Gaga Field Area) at 12:55pm and stay out for roughly 15 minutes. I've assigned additional support staff to every grade level to help ensure students keep their glasses on. Please make sure the additional staff receives a pair of glasses. If a students is not following directions then they will be sent back into the class where the teacher monitoring those that cannot participate.
Additional Support:
2nd Grade: Christi Beerley, Ana Vergara
3rd Grade: Vanessa Lay, Julie Ratliff
4th Grade: LeCrecia Robinson
5th Grade: Jill Whitehead
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Keep Howling!
