Homework

Homework this week is due on Friday this week (instead of Sunday) so that students can get plenty of rest over the weekend before STAAR!

LANGUAGE ARTS

  • Required: "Amusement Park Motion" reading passage
  • Required: Read 100 minutes

MATH

  • Required: Pass at least 3 lessons in Think Through Math (It does count as passing a full lesson if you skip out of it through the pre-test!). This should bring your total number of lessons passed in all time in TTM to at least 14.
Note: All students have their log-in information taped inside their take home binders.
  • Optional: Continue practicing in Xtra Math (strongly recommended for students who have not mastered all basic multiplication facts) and SumDog

Note: Please let us know if your child does not have access to an internet-connected device at home to complete online assignments so that we can come up with an alternate plan for your child.

Living Museum Day Performance Schedule

Our 4th grade students will take you on a journey back in time on Friday, May 27th as they perform for the 7th Annual Reagan 4th Grade Living History Museum! The class performance schedule is as follows:
  • 10:00 - 11:00 - Flores, Eddy, & Weltzin homerooms perform (YEEEEEEE HAAAWW!)
  • 11:00 - 12:00 - Beasley & LaCombe homerooms perform
  • 1:30 - 2:30 - Lau & Heim homerooms perform

We would love to see you on Living Museum day! Feel free to come and support your little Davy Crockett, Bessie Coleman, or Ladybird Johnson if you are able. Performances will occur as scheduled above and will be upstairs in the 4th grade neighborhood.

A few reminders -

  • Poster board for the museum displays will be sent home Wednesday, May 11th. If students would like to use something other than the white poster board we provide, they are welcome to.
  • While students are expected to dress as much like their Texan as possible on museum day, it is not our intent for you to purchase items specifically for this purpose. Let us know if you have any questions.
  • A one minute video of last year's Living Museum can be found below if you would like to see what the event has been like in the past.

End of the Year PE Events

Our school-wide Field Day will be Friday, May 13th. More details will follow.

Our 4th and 5th grade annual track meet will be held at Vista Ridge High School on Friday, May 20th. This is a highly anticipated event that the students look forward to every year. Again, be on the lookout for more details.

Volunteers will be needed to help make both events a success, so consider sharing your time if you're able on one or both of those days!

Playground Design Project - Donations Needed!

In May, we will be applying math concepts we have been learning about all year long to design and build scale models of playgrounds! To make this project a success, we could use your help gathering materials. Below is a list of materials that we will use to make our scale models, many of which you may already have around your house. If you are able to donate any of these materials, please send them with your child to school any time in April. Thank you in advance for your help!

  • Wooden sticks such as toothpicks, craft sticks, or tongue depressors
  • Cardboard tubes such as toilet paper tubes or paper towel tubes
  • Plastic beverage lids
  • Bottle corks
  • Empty thread spools
  • Cardboard, tagboard, or foam board - this is the greatest need right now
  • Foil
  • Copper wire
  • Rubber bands
  • Twist ties
  • Modeling clay
  • Stale marshmallows
  • Gumdrops
  • Any other craft or hobby items

Mother's Day Out to Support FCCLA at VRHS

A student leadership organization called FCCLA at Vista Ridge High School has 5 students who have qualified to compete at the National Leadership Conference in San Diego, California. This trip comes at a great expense, so they have organized a fundraiser to help support these students and would appreciate your support. See the flyer below for more details about the Mother's Day Out they are holding.

Upcoming Dates

Please view the calendar linked below on our classroom website to find out about important events and dates that 4th grade families at Reagan should be aware of. We will keep this calendar updated as new events arise or dates/times change.

Classroom Supply Wish List

Our classrooms are currently in need of the following items. If you are able to make a donation to our classroom please send the supplies in with your child to school. Donations are not expected but are greatly appreciated!
