ELECTIVES DEPARTMENT
ENGLISH
Students in English classes have been receiving fun rewards for their professional writing this year!
To ease students back into writing at the beginning of the year, English teachers at Steele challenged students to write business letters to celebrities or companies, but with a twist. Students had to make an outrageous request for the recipients of their letters to send something back. Throughout the year, students have been receiving personalized mail from some of their favorite celebrities!
Students have received responses to their letters ranging from signed postcards and memorabilia, to brand new baseball bats and books. One student even received a personal invitation to attend a concert for a UK-based band when they came to play a show in Ohio. Students have really been enjoying connecting with some of their heroes while witnessing firsthand how powerful professional writing can be.

YEARBOOK INFO
Attention Seniors: By January 13th, all of the following need to be done in order for each item to be in the yearbook.
If you took your yearbook senior portrait with Studio Q, then you need to select the pose you want in the yearbook by filling out the order form and turning it in to Mrs. Stack or Mrs. Deulley. If you order only one portrait from Studio Q, we will assume that is the one you want, but if you do not select one pose to be in the yearbook by January 13th, we will choose the yearbook pose for you. You will still be able to order your pictures from Studio Q after this deadline.
If you did not get a portrait with Studio Q yet, you must complete a $25 session no later than January 13th in order to be in the senior portrait section of the yearbook. Contact Studio Q at info@studioqinc.com to book an appointment as soon as possible so you do not miss out.
If you want your kid picture (baby, toddler, young kid, etc) in the special portrait section after the senior portrait section in the yearbook, email those to Mr. Rubinski no later than January 13th at brian_rubinski@amherstk12.org. Only one picture can fit in the yearbook, and this picture will also be placed next to your senior portrait during the senior commencement video that plays before the ceremony.
