MARCH 2020
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL WILLIAMS
Hello Skyhawk Families,
Today, it looks like spring may actually be joining us soon. With the return of spring comes the wrap up of some events at Skyridge and the beginning of others. Our Knowledge Bowl team captured the district title Wednesday in their final competition and our 8th grade boys’ basketball team completed a successful season on Thursday in the district tournament at Liberty Middle School. Our girls’ basketball program is underway and rehearsals have begun for our spring musical production of “James and the Giant Peach”, with performances scheduled for May 22 and 23. This show is always worth the price of admission, so mark your calendars now to save the date.
Spring also begins the talk of looking at next school year. For our 8th graders, this can come with feelings of both excitement and anxiety as they look toward ending their middle school career and moving on to high school. If you are a parent of an 8th grade student, keep an eye on your inbox and one on our social media posts for upcoming dates and meetings for this transition. If this is your first student to make this jump, we will work to make it as easy as possible for you and your student.
This process will actually begin this month. On March 19, our 8th grade students will spend the morning touring the three high school options in the Camas School District. They will be bussed to each school in succession and will get to be on campus and get information specific to each building. Later that night, we will have the principals from Hayes Freedom, Discovery and Camas High School here at Skyridge for a parent information night. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and learn about each opportunity. We hope to see you that night.
We know that transitions can cause some anxiety with our students and our parents. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions you might have about this process or anything else related to your student. We are working together to help support them through this wonderful time of life called adolescence, so please let us know how we can help.
Go Skyhawks!
