Welcome Back from Thanksgiving Break!
Met Up Talent Show!
We had some amazing talent at our last MetUp on November 17. Each Advisory competed in a lip synch challenge and then several terrific students shared their talents! The day ended with a school-wide potluck.
Our winning lip synch Advisories: 11th grade: Jill and Amy!
Our fearless Masters of Ceremony!
So much talent: music, musicals, monologues, singing, Rubix's cube! Impressive!

In preparation for our 2024-2025 budget development, we are requesting parent and family input regarding the needs of our school that will help inform our future budgeting conversations and decision-making. By completing this needs assessment survey, you can provide your input on how we develop budgets and strategies for the 2024-2025 school year. Thank you!

Internship Wrap-Up for Fall Semester
We are nearing the end of our Fall Semester, and that means students need to wrap up their internships. The most important step is for students to obtain an Evaluation Form from their mentor. The mentor’s evaluation is an authentic assessment of the student’s real-world growth and progress, and will factor into the student’s EWE grade. Advisors will support their students with obtaining the Evaluation Form, though it is important that students take the initiative to engage in a conversation with their mentors to review their internship work over the course of the semester. Students should also discuss with their mentor and advisor whether they plan to continue the internship next semester, or whether they will be ending their internship at the end of this semester.
Students are expected to attend their internships at least through Thursday, Dec. 7, though they may continue through Thursday, Dec. 14, with mentor agreement.
Exhibitions and LTI Projects - Dec. 12, 13, and 14
It is also almost time for Exhibitions! At the San Diego Met, Exhibitions are our end-of-semester presentations of learning, in which every student shares out examples of their learning and growth from this semester, with an emphasis on presenting their LTI Projects!
Students are being supported in developing a high-quality LTI Project related to their internship learning. Advisors are providing feedback and facilitating student conversations with their Mentors during site visits. Every student should be working on their project and getting feedback during their internships, site visits, one-on-one meetings with Advisors and at home.
At the Exhibition, every student will present before a panel, and at least one parent/guardian must be present to help celebrate the student’s achievements and provide feedback. Your student’s Advisor will communicate with you about scheduling the Exhibition during our Exhibition Week, on either Dec. 12, 13, or 14. On those three days, students are expected to attend their own Exhibition and any other Exhibitions that they have been scheduled to be panelists on. There will be no regular classes on these days.
If you have any questions about LTI Projects and Exhibitions, please contact your student’s Advisor. We look forward to welcoming you to campus to celebrate your students!
Schoolwide Trip to the Zoo!
San Diego Zoo Field Trip - Fri., Dec. 8
We are excited to revisit a San Diego Met tradition: the annual trip to the San Diego Zoo to celebrate the coming of Winter Break! This year’s trip will take place on Friday, Dec. 8, and will serve as our MetUp event for the month. Permission slips have been sent home with students to be signed by parents/guardians. Please sign and send the slips back with your students ASAP, and no later than Wednesday, Dec. 6. Please note that all students MUST take school bus transportation to the Zoo from the Met. Students may not drive or be dropped off directly at the Zoo via private transportation. However, parents/guardians may give their students permission to be dismissed directly from the Zoo instead of returning to campus on the school bus. This means that you agree to either pick up your students from the Zoo, or arrange to have them take some other transportation home, and they will not be transported back to the Met on the school bus. The permission slip will have an additional line for you to sign if you wish to give permission for dismissal from the Zoo.
Students may purchase lunch and snacks while at the Zoo, or they may bring food with them. Please plan to send your student with lunch money if they wish to purchase food. School lunches are available for free to any student who prefers that option. Students should let Ms. Sylvia know in advance if they wish to have a school lunch provided to them for the day.
Thank you, and we look forward to a fun day at the Zoo!
Call for Immigrant Stories!
Hey Met Families,
We are looking for people who have an interesting story of immigrating to the US. These guests will be interviewed by our 9th graders for a creative writing project that celebrates immigrants. If they have photos to share, that is an amazing added bonus!! Please send any contacts to Jill Chiodini (jchiodini@sandi.net) who will reach out to potential guests over Winter Break. Thank you!

COLLEGE AND CAREER CORNER

On Monday, November 27, the entire senior class worked for several hours on college applications, college personal statements and exploring plans beyond high school. Our two Class of 2024 Advisors, Ms. Baker and Mr. Becerra, together with our counselor Mr. Moravec and our Internship Coordinator Ms. Ms. Mann- Deibert, helped our 25 seniors with their myriad needs.
