Lunch charges....IMPORTANT!
Dear Bethel-Tate Families,
As many of you are aware, during the pandemic, schools were able to provide meals for free to students regardless of income as a part of COVID-19 assistance passed by Congress in an effort to reduce food insecurity. Congress did not extend the program beyond the 2021-2022 school year resulting in school districts, including Bethel-Tate, once again requiring students to pay for meals beginning with the 2022-2023 school year.
As we enter the second half of this school year, we are experiencing a significant increase in the amount of charges by students for both breakfast and lunch. Because the federal dollars that supported free meals are gone, the district can not support this trend. Therefore, we are making the following changes that are consistent with our pre-pandemic practice:
Students cannot charge for breakfast;
Students are permitted two charges before they will receive a cheese or peanut butter sandwich for $1.
To add money to your child’s account for either past charges or for future meals, follow this link, https://payschoolscentral.com/. You can also send in cash or check with the student's name and lunch account on the check.
For families who qualify, free and reduced meals remain an option. If you think your family is eligible, you can download the application at betheltate.org, or you can also get an application at any school office. If you have questions, please call Darlene Parks: 513-734-2271 at extension 7190, or email darlene.parks@betheltate.org.
Thank you,
Robert MacLeod
