NSO Weekly News

January 23-28, 2023

Sherwood Park - Fort Saskatchewan - Vegreville

Hey all, we hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Please return all semester 1 textbooks to your teacher to avoid potential replacement costs. Your support getting textbooks returned prior to January 27 is greatly appreciated.

We are finalizing semester 2 course planning with families and are scheduling course start appointment times. Students are required to check in and meet with their instructor weekly. It is recommended that multiple check ins occur each week to ensure successful completion of course work. Students not adhering to the weekly check in schedule may be removed from the course.

Have a great week! Mr. Spady Principal & Mrs. Porter Assistant Principal

Bell Let's Talk Day

Bell Let’s Talk Day, January 25, Next Step is joining in to help create positive change. When it comes to mental health, it’s important to support ourselves and each other. There are many actions big and small that we can do to improve our own mental health and the lives of people living with mental health issues.

Together, the students at Next Step can join in to help create positive change. Remember that our teachers, counsellors and principals are here to listen and provide you with support! If you want to learn more about how to support someone who is struggling with their mental health, a great resource is Be There from Jack.org. Visit www.bethere.org to learn more.

Returning Student Registration for 2023-24

Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) will once again conduct an online returning student registration process to confirm student registrations for the 2023-24 school year. Families of all current students—with the exception of graduating Grade 12 students—must complete the process to confirm the school their child plans to attend in the 2023-24 school year or advise the Division of their plans not to return to EIPS. The 2023-24 returning student registration takes place February 1-28, 2023. For more information, contact the school office at 780-464-1899

Access to the Returning Student Registration Form is provided through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you don’t have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, you need to set one up before Feb. 1, 2023. Create a PowerSchool Parent Portal account
