Magic in the Middle

Arcola News~ March 5, 2021

Dear Arcola Families:

Welcome to March! Our days are getting warmer, brighter and longer! A touch of spring will be good for all. Please see the updates and reminder items below. Please continue to visit the website often! Wishing you all a great week ahead~ stay safe and healthy.

Dr. M.

The Counselor Corner

It’s scheduling time for 8th Grade students! By now, 8th Graders should have entered their course requests into PowerSchool. The portal will be open for students to make their own adjustments to their selections until March 23 and all changes have to be made by April 7. Any student still confused about the scheduling process should be encouraged to reach out to Mr. Mueller in the Counseling Office. Parents and guardians are always welcome to contact Mr. Mueller about scheduling as well (x30220 or mmueller@methacton.org).

To further our students’ career education, Arcola will be hosting a virtual STEAM (Career) Day this year on March 30. If you would like to a record a short video about your career to share with students that day, please contact Mr. Mueller in the Counseling Office at mmueller@methacton.org.

Assurance Rapid Testing At Arcola

One More Way Methacton is Putting Safety First:

As another measure to ensure the safety of students and staff, Methacton School District will be offering Assurance Testing for staff at each school building. Each school will have staff trained to administer and read the test results within 15 minutes. This screening program will start at the High School and Eagleville on 2/26/21 and will be in effect in all schools by 3/12/21. Arcola started today, 3/5/21. Thank you to our nurses for helping with this set-up and process- Kim McDonald and Joni Cosgriff!

Update on 3/15 Transition

Our survey is complete and we are working on reviewing plans for the 3/15 transition. This will be like starting with day 1 as we fully recognize that some students have not been on campus all year. Not to worry as we are taking steps to help ALL of our students in this transition with videos and announcements about process and procedures. Our goal is to make everyone feel good about being on campus, feel safe and ready to learn. Thank you for your cooperation in the process.

AM and PM Campus Traffic Update

Thank you families for your cooperation in this process for our AM arrival and PM dismissal. Just a reminder that we offer early drop-off at 7:45AM for students to enter the building and sit in our commons/cafe area. Our PM car line and entrance onto campus begins at 3:00PM.

PowerSchool and Mid-Marking Progress Reports

This is the best way to get your latest updates on grades and assignments. Get in the habit of having your children check PowerSchool daily. March 4th was the mid-marking period and by March 10th you will be receiving mid-marking progress reports via email from any/every teacher where the grade is a 69 or lower. This is to notify you and your child so that we can work on boosting that grade! Period 8 is a great time to seek extra help from teachers.

Lanyards and Masks a Must!

All students are required to wear a mask and district-issued lanyard at all times while on school property and the bus.
