TCU Le Center K8 April News
Dear TCU Le Center Families
We are excited to be entering springtime! Lots of events will be happening during the next few months! This time of the year always brings lots of excitement, energy, and a wide variety of emotions from our students! Please keep in close communication with your Titan's teachers with field trips, testing, and celebrations! It's great to be able to give our kids some experiences that may be outside of their normal daily routine!
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
Sincerely,
Mr. Jeff Eppen, Principal

Student Drop Off, Pick Up, and Bussing Reminders
Morning Drop Off - Please pull your car as far forward as you can to drop off your students, we have quite a large number of vehicles in our parking lot and this helps with traffic flow. Also, please do not drop off your child in the parking lot and let them walk unassisted across the flow of traffic, this is a dangerous situation and we don't want anyone to be injured.
If you have students who are waiting for Head Start, please use a parking spot or circle around the lot until it's your time to drop them off. Parking for an extended time only slows down the flow for everyone.
Student Pick Up - We have witnessed more and more students darting across the parking lot and traffic flow lanes. Please remind your student to use the crosswalk for safety purposes!
Bussing Reminders - Students may only ride buses that they are registered for. There is no switching busses or riding with other family members or friends. Other transportation must be arranged.

Nominations Needed!
Do you know someone from Le Center or Le Sueur County who has been an inspiration, made a difference or contributed to the community? We want to hear about them! Please send the person’s name and picture along with a few sentences about why you think they should be recognized. We will be creating a display here at school so that our students can see the amazing people who are part of the community in which they live.
Nominations can be sent to school with your student, dropped in the office, or emailed to tsardelli@tcu2905.us.
1st Day School Supplies
Believe it or not, planning for the next school year is already in full swing! School supply lists have been confirmed, and we are again working with 1st Day School Supplies to make shopping for next year easier. Check out our School Store to see the supply list. Prices are locked in and will not change. This year the ordered supplies will be delivered directly to your home instead of the school.
Please note that this is an optional program. If you prefer to purchase supplies elsewhere, you may do so, but 1st Day School Supplies has guaranteed the ability to provide supplies even with the current supply chain issues that we have been experiencing.

Happy Spring!!
I know it may not feel like spring yet but hopefully the weather will cooperate soon and we can all get outside and enjoy a beautiful spring.
Here are a few reminders on how to keep your children healthy and safe during outdoor activities:
Safety: wear a helmet when riding bikes, skateboards, and scooters. Knee pads and elbow pads are easy to wear and add more protection.
Allergy sufferers: limit outdoor exposure during times of high pollen and mold counts.
Poison Ivy, Oak, and Sumac: contain oil causing an allergic skin reaction that looks like swollen itchy red bumps and blisters appearing wherever the oil has touched the skin. Check the areas around your home and teach your kids to recognize and avoid it.
Stinging insects: if you are stung, remove the stinger as soon as possible with a scraping motion. Wash with soap and water and apply a cold compress. If trouble breathing, severe swelling or fainting occurs, call 911 or an emergency number right away.
Ticks: use tweezers or fingers to grasp as close to the head as possible and pull the tick away from where it is attached. Call the pediatrician for symptoms of a rash or fever.
Sun Safety: the sun’s rays are strongest between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm. Use SPF 15 or higher, even on cloudy days. It is important to get a healthy dose of sunshine each day. (Information from American Academy of Pediatrics, 2018)
