Short week ahead! I look forward to seeing everyone together tomorrow morning, Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 8am in the Media Center. As we continue to grow as a staff, it becomes more and more important that we connect as a family and get to know each other better. I encourage you to sit next to an unfamiliar face, get to know someone that you do not regularly speak to or even share something about yourself with someone that you normally would not!
This week brings a lot of opportunity to engage not only with our students but also with their families. Our Family Fitness Night proves to be another successful engagement opportunity, Coach Moon and Coach Anderson have planned a great night of family fun! I look forward to everyone being present, engaged and a part of the fun - I can promise you that it is an enjoyable opportunity for ALL!
Speaking of engagement, the month of March is our second opportunity of the year to have official parent conferences. I encourage you to begin scheduling these opportunities now, please know that while March 18, 2019 is scheduled for a "Teacher Workday" - You are welcome to use this opportunity conference with parents. There will be no meetings on this day that would otherwise pull you away from scheduling the entire day with conferences if you wish. We have talked about student-led conferences in the past, some of you all have ventured down this route with success. For those of you that are still unsure of the process and exactly how it would play out, I encourage you to use FlipGrid and have students pre-record parts of their conference that you feel parents would find helpful and beneficial. I encourage you to have students answer the following questions:
- What do you feel are your strenghts?
- What do you feel are areas of growth?
- What is your favorite part about school?
- What is your least favorite part about school?
- What is the one thing you are most proud of accomplishing this school year?
- What can your parents do to help you be the best you can be at school?
As a reminder, every Monday is a "Mindset Monday" - With Monday being today and today being a holiday please plan to execute Mindset Monday plans on Wednesday! Pair your mindset shirts with denim to kick the week off in style while focusing on our 7 Mindsets!
With an intentional focus of consistency on being curious & crazy for kids you will ALWAYS find a culture that is student focused!
Have a WONDERful Week!

Note from Ms. Hursey:
Mrs. Shultz and I are working on a project to celebrate each and every faculty & staff member at MES. Please take a moment to use the forms below to tell us what you appreciate about your team members. There are forms for each team and group at MES. Feel free to share something nice about your teammates, something funny they say or something amazing about them that all the WORLD should know. You are also welcome to share something special about the special areas of our school that interact with your students each year. We cannot wait to celebrate each of you during this special week. Please submit a separate form for each person for each sorting. Please complete your forms by Wednesday, February 20th.
