Math Competitions
Two of our Owls, Sophia L. and Jacob M., won individual awards at the competition. Great job!
National Honor Society
National Honor Society Induction Ceremony will be held on Monday, April 8th at 5:30pm in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
National Honor Society inductees need to be at the auditorium no later than 5:20 pm Monday evening for the induction ceremony.
All members should complete 5 additional hours of community service hours. These additional hours can be earned from February 1st - May 19th. All paperwork should be turned in to Mrs. Walsh by May 20th.
Spirit Week
Students are encouraged to celebrate in OECHS' Spirit week! The days are as follows:
April 8, Monday: Dress for success!
April 9, Tuesday: Tacky Tourist Day
April 10, Wednesday: Country vs. Country Club
April 11, Thursday: Character Day
April 12, Friday: Fandom Day
Drama
Students in drama will begin dress rehearsals the week of April 8. We will be practicing in the auditorium from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Cast will have late practices on April 10, 12 and 24. Practices those days will run until 5:30 and are mandatory for cast. It is the students' responsibility to get arrange for a ride! We will dismiss promptly at 5:30 p.m. those nights! Day and time for prop design to meet outside of school will be upcoming as well!
Drivers Education
England Trip Departure Meeting
We will have a departure meeting for parents and students traveling to London England this summer on April 24 at 5:30 p.m. in Hugh Ragsdale, RM 105. We will be going over the final details before our travel in June including tipping information, tickets, and packing information.
EOC and AP Tutoring
May 4th:
English II and Math III from 9:45 to 11:55.
APES from 8:45 to 11:45.
May 12th:
English II, Math III, and Biology 8:45 to 11:55.
APWH from 8:45 to 11:45.
Yearbook
It's not too late to order your yearbook! The last day to order your copy is Tuesday, April 9! Students who don't buy a yearbook by April 9, may purchase one at the distribution party on May 17, but we have a limited number available. They are $35 and first come first serve!
Other News...
-Junior Senator election will be on April 12th.
-Spring Break for OECHS is April 13th through April 22nd.
English
English II Honors: This week, students began their senior projects and we had several guest speakers! Instructors from Biology, Computer Science, Creative Writing & History came to share with students some job prospects and college information in their job field. Next week, we will have guest speakers from Criminal Justice, Engineering, and Education. Topic Proposal forms were due Friday. Works Cited pages for senior papers will be due next Friday (April 12). We will continue reading Chronicle of a Death Foretold, and will take a test on the book on Tuesday, April 9.
English IV Honors: Students completed their study of the Victorian author, Oscar Wilde this week, and took their test on the unit on Thursday. Next week, we will begin studying the famous Science Fiction writer, HG Wells with his work The Island of Dr. Moreau. APA Research proposals and annotated bibliographies are due on Friday, April 12.
Math
HM3: The average score for the second six weeks was an 89 in first period and an 88 in second period. Students are currently studying Unit 5 Trigonometry. Monday and Tuesday students will learn about the unit circle and how it relates to special right triangles. On Wednesday and Thursday students will unravel the unit circle to create graphs of sine and cosine functions. We will end the week with a Test on Unit 5.
HM4: On Monday students will begin Chapter 7 Systems. This will be a review of topics learned in Maths 1,2, and 3. There will be a quiz on Thursday.
Science
Chem Honors: The Unit 9 Test is scheduled for Monday, April 8.
Bio Honors: We will look to finish all our lessons by the beginning week of May in preparation for Bio EOC review.

Social Studies
Civics and Econ Honors: This week we will look at the circular flow of the economy. We will also learn about the Production Possibilities Frontier and examine ways to increase demand.
Final exam resources have been posted on Teams. Please encourage your students to study a little bit each night, rather than cramming at the end of the course. The North Carolina Final Exam is worth 25% of their grade!
