The best way we can maximize our student success is with your continued support. Stay in contact with your teachers, check your student's grades and attendance regularly, and talk to your student about what they are learning in their classes. Another HUGE support is to make sure you know what your student is doing in their social media. Social media rumors and bullying is often the biggest cause of disruption in the work of our school. We are working with our students to be good digital citizens, but it takes active parents to ensure that kids are staying safe and positive with their social media and technology use. I can't thank you enough for your help with that to prevent unfounded rumors, negative trends regarding behavior at school, and damaging online interactions. Middle school is a tough time for kids, and they may not always appreciate parents who are actively monitoring their tech use, but we do know that parent involvement makes a huge difference in students being good digital citizens. I recommend you have your student show you (and open) EVERY app on their device so you can see what they're up to. Also, have them turn in their electronics before bed as many kids are staying up all night on their devices instead of getting rest. Your help with this will be huge!

As we wrap up this semester at the end of January, we want all our students' grades to show the learning and growth they've done this year. This means we want all our students to get all their work turned in so their grades are a true reflection of their ability. Take a few minutes to look over your students grades and talk to them about completing any missing work or assessments. It would be nice to get as many students as possible on the honor roll this semester with a 3.5 or better GPA! Check in with your advisory teacher if you need help making this happen. Especially with the recent increase in COVID cases, if your child has to miss school for any reason, please have your child check their Google Classroom for each class so they can stay caught up in class. Together, we will be successful even through hard times!

Thursday, January 27th is the last day of the first semester. It is crucial that students turn in all work by the end of this day so teachers can complete grades on Friday, January 28th!

Ongoing Events:

Parents can meet with the school administration to open a chat session the first Tuesday of each month. To make this as easy as possible for everyone, we will do it virtually with Google Meet. You can access the link on our school calendar. At 4:30, we will have our chat in English, and at 5:00, we will switch to Spanish. If any parent wants to work with us to start a Parent Group, we would love to!!

On the last Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM, we have a virtual parent meeting in Spanish with the South Meadows administration and the Hilhi administration. Check our calendar for the link. Our hope is to expand these meetings to all of our elementary schools at least a couple of times a year so that our entire Hilhi community is connected.

By the end of the first weekend of each month, look for a newsletter from the principal. It will have updates and information. These are also published on our website.
