Welcome Back Video
WORDS FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
We are so happy to have our students coming back to school. Our goal is to comply with all of the Health Department and Davis School District policies for curtailing the spread of COVID-19 while providing an excellent educational experience for your children. There was a lot of information sent home in last week’s HuskyGram. Please refer to that for all of the details.
Here are some important things for you to remember:
- Students will meet their teachers by their grade level doors each morning. (Map is attached)
- Students will only go in and out of those doors as they arrive in the morning and leave in the afternoon each day. This is to help with contact tracing if needed.
- Please make sure your student has a mask on when he or she arrives at school each day, including the first day. All students will be issued a mask and lanyard at school but must have one on to enter the building.
- Have a prearranged meeting spot for your children to meet at the end of each day since they will be exiting the school through their grade level doors. You may want to bring your children to the school to determine where that spot will be.
- It will be very helpful to your children to know before school starts what the after-school plan is. That way they won’t worry about it while they’re at school and will not need a message delivered to them during the day. Of course, emergencies come up and we will deliver those kinds of messages.
- Items students forget to bring to school like lunches, homework, etc., will be placed on a table in between the doors in our secure vestibule. When you arrive to drop off the items, please ring the bell to let one of the secretaries know who you have left an item for and before lunch, students will be notified they need to retrieve items.
- Please use disposable lunch sacks whenever possible.
- There is no formal school for kindergarten students during the first week while they are being individually assessed. Group 1 starts on Monday, August 31st and Group 2 on Tuesday, September 1st.
- Please take a moment and sign the disclosures on myDSD. Devices WILL NOT be sent home with your child until the device disclosures are signed.
We are really looking forward to seeing our students next week! Be sure to watch the videos and PowerPoints the teachers have sent home for the Virtual Back to School Night.
We have missed you and are so excited to have everyone back! Thank you for your support and patience as we all learn different ways to conduct school. It’s exhilarating to try new things and learn in new ways! We are all doing this for the first time.
