The Rattler Round-Up

3rd Six Weeks Edition 2021-22

District News

Happy Holidays from Tolar ISD! As the end of the first semester draws near, many activities district wide are in full swing. Our band has returned from a successful trip to Hawaii, our basketball teams are playing great, and our students have been participated in numerous philanthropic activities to serve others.

With the new calendar year, we will continue our improvement efforts as a district. To do this, we will emphasize the areas addressed within the Tolar ISD Strategic Plan. The goals within this plan address:

  • Student Achievement
  • Quality Teaching, Administrative, and Support Staff
  • Enduring Relationships with Stakeholders
  • Facilities and Resources
  • Safe, Healthy, and Nurturing Schools

Academically, our teachers and students are working hard to reach their individual learning goals. One of our major focuses this year is in regard to reading fluency. At the primary level, our teachers are participating in reading academies and guided reading activities are occurring daily. We have also made a major push to ensure that our students are equipped with the technology and resources needed. At this point, we have reached a 1:1 ratio in regards to technology devices/students in grades 2-12. We will reach that level in all grade levels in the very near future.

In regard to facilities, construction has begun on the new secondary gym at the HS campus. This will help provide additional practice space and locker rooms for our students. In addition, our HS roof will be replaced in the very near future. For safety and security, we are updating and improving on a regular basis. This is a continual focus for our district.

In order to help us achieve our goals, we need your feedback. We are currently conducting surveys of parents, students, and employees to obtain valuable information that can help us grow as a district moving forward. If you have not already done so, we ask that you fill out the short survey to give us your thoughts. The link to this survey is found within this newsletter.

Great things are happening within the Tolar ISD! And, I can’t wait to see the amazing things that our students will do as we move forward as a district. God Bless and Go Rattlers & Lady Rattlers!

Reporting Safety Concerns

TISD has several ways for students to report safety concerns.

Each campus as a Tip Line that can be found on their campus webpage and through our TISD App.

Elementary Tip Line

Junior High Tip Line

High School Tip Line

Junior High and High School students have access to the SpeakUp reporting tool.

  • Students see the SpeakUp for Safety address whenever they start to compose an email
  • Messages sent to SpeakUp for Safety result in an auto-reply, which explains how the tipline works. SpeakUp for Safety replies include a phone number that students can use for text messages or phone calls.
  • A monthly reminder sent to all students includes your dedicated SpeakUp for Safety phone number as well as more information about the tipline.

THS Band Performing at The Pearl Harbor 80th Anniversary Commemorative Ceremony

We believe that students should be taught the value of service, honor, and patriotism.

We are proud of our Rattler Band and how they represented our school district!
