Presentations
6th grade spent this month doing their planet project presentations for what they put together to month of October/November. Check out the photos below!
Zombie Survival Project
6th grade started working on their Zombie Survival Project (see worksheets and group work below) before the break.
Congratulations Mrs. Stanush!
Meet Wesley Luke Stanush! He was born at 10:43 pm on November 2nd after about 25.5 hours of labor. He weighs 8 pounds and 3 oz and is 20.5 inches. Both mama and baby are healthy! We hope that Ms. Stanush and Wesley enjoy their time together and we will see Ms. Stanush back in February!
UIL Practice
7th grade GT has been working on taking UIL Academic practice tests to see which skills they would do well in. Most every UIL coach has started practicing for the January/February events so if your child is interested in an event, please have them reach out to our UIL Coordinator, Jenna Madrigal, to secure a spot on the competition teams in various Academic and performance events. Below are photos of the top performers in the categories written on the white board behind them. Congratulations!
GT Marketing Presentations
Farmer's Market Research
On October 30 almost all the 8th grade GT students went to the Farmer's Market to research booths and get ideas for what they want to sell at the Farmer's Market in December. They were able to ask questions to vendors, as well as get information from the manager of the Farmer's Market. They then decided what they wanted to sell and present at Shark Tank in order to get investors.
Shark Tank
On Tuesday, November 9 and Thursday, November 11 5PM-8PM 8th grade GT presented at Shark Tank for investors at the NBISD Admin Building in the hopes they would invest in their companies for the products they're making for the Farmer's Market. Every group was able to walk away with an investor (or two!) and $50 of start up money for their company. One group will sell their items Saturday, December 4 and another group will sell Saturday, December 11 from 8:30AM-1:30PM. We can't wait to see their final products so be sure to come out and support our 8th grade entrepreneurs!
A special thanks goes out to all the sharks who donated their time and expertise to support and mentor our students. We can't do Shark Tank without you!
Also a special thanks to superintendent Dr. Smith who stopped by to see our sharks on Thursday night, as well as Blake Haygood, NBISD's Advanced Academic Specialist, who attended both nights and made it possible for us to use the boardroom at the Admin building for the first time. We appreciate you!
