Board Briefs May 1, 2023
Panther Nation,
We had a very productive special-called Board meeting Monday night. We are in the middle of budget season. Our CFO, Rosanna Guerrero led the board through our second budget workshop. The Board worked through budget priorities including meeting the needs of students and raises for staff and teachers.
Texas is also in the middle of a legislative session and budget bills are currently being debated in both chambers which affect LHISD and all public schools. In addition, both chambers are hearing safety bills and tax relief bills in this very important session.
LHISD has also hired a new principal for Rancho Sienna Elementary School. Details below.
One more reminder that Tuesday is the last day for Early Voting and Saturday, May 6, is Election Day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Bond 2023 is on the ballot as are two School Board positions.
Have a great day!
