“Joy, with peace, is the sister of charity. Serve the Lord with laughter.”
St. Thérèse of Lisieux
From Mr. Merrick
Dear St. Jerome Families,
I hope that your week has been going well so far. We had a good visit with Sister Margert Rose this past Thursday. Next, Sister Lisa will be with us on June 7th to meet with our St. Jerome faculty. Sister Lisa and I are also in the final stages of planning for summer projects and improvements for our respective classroom spaces. I look forward to sharing them with you over the course of the next few fundraisers. The improvements to our St. Jerome School spaces, which will directly benefit our students and teachers, are thanks to your generous support of our fundraising efforts!
We are also planning an evening social for both schools on August 29th (time to be announced). This will also be an opportunity to drop off school supplies before the first day so that the students do not have to carry as much on the first day. School supply lists and summer assignments will be posted the first week of June.
For the past 45 years, St. Jerome School has hosted a dance program for St. Jerome students on Tuesdays after school. Under the direction of Mrs. Linda Monari and her helpers, the students performed in their recital last Sunday. It was an amazing show! Congratulations to all of our performers, and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
We would like to especially recognize our 8th grade dance students who performed in their last SJS dance recital: Samantha DeOliveria, Alessandro Echeverri, Jamie O’Donnell, and Emma Parkinson. You were outstanding, and we wish you all the best and hope that you continue pursuing the arts at your chosen high schools.
Our 5th & 6th graders had their culminating ballroom dancing performance on Tuesday. This has been traditionally a 5th grade program, however, our current 6th graders participated this year because we were unable to host the program last year since it was only offered virtually. We are proud of how well they all did. Thank you to our Home and School Association for sponsoring this program.
Our Student Council is holding a bake sale tomorrow to raise funds for Spirit Day (which will be held on June 1st). Please see the flyer below or in the Wednesday Folder for more details.
We will be honoring our Blessed Mother with a May Procession tomorrow at 1:00 PM. We will gather in the Church, process around the Immaculate Mary Home to include our neighbors, and return to the Church to crown our Blessed Mother.
The forms for the June 1st and June 2nd specials lunches are due tomorrow, and the forms are below. We are going to start doing a lunch calendar next school year to help our families keep track of what is served each day as well as to help you stay organized at home with when to pack lunches.
Friday is a St. Jerome Spirit Wear Day; donations will go toward a new green screen background and teleprompter to modernize our TV studio, which will allow us to resume our tv/video production program next year.
We anticipate receiving Terra Nova scores from March by the middle of next week; they will be sent home in the Wednesday folder on June 1st.
On Tuesday, June 7th, our school will be engaging in a morning of service after the 8:30 AM Mass. We will be assembling breakfast bags for Caring for Friends and Hope 101 who provide meals for the elderly/homebound and homeless, respectively. We are asking for donations of the following breakfast items:
- Tea bags
- Instant coffee packets
- Oatmeal packets
- Fruit cups & raisins
- Small, individual boxes of cereal (single serving)
Please send in donations by Monday, June 6th so that we can divide the items among the rooms and stuff the bags on Tuesday.
Have a great rest of the week; St. Jerome, pray for us!
