Importance of Attendance

Olympic View Elementary School is making a special effort to ensure that all students fully benefit from their education by attending school regularly. Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school and themselves. Your student can start building this habit in preschool so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Consistent attendance will help children do well in high school, college, and at work.

What We Need From You

We miss your student when they are gone and value their contributions to our school. We would like you to help ensure that your student attends regularly and is successful in school. If your student is going to be absent, please call the Olympic View Elementary Attendance Line at 360.279.5159.

Our Promise To You

We know that there are a wide variety of reasons that students are absent from school, from health concerns to transportation challenges. There are many people in our building prepared to help you if you or your student face challenges in getting to school regularly or on time.

All health plans and healthcare provider orders are good for one school year only. If your child needs a health plan or needs to take medication during the school day for the school year 2022-2023 (this includes any prescription, over-the-counter medications, or inhalers used at school, during team sports practices, or after-school activities), please download the appropriate form from the district website https://www.ohsd.net/Page/2126. Forms may also be picked up in your school's office. Please drop off medications and physician signed individual health plans BEFORE the first day of school, Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022. Beat the rush - the office staff can take your forms and medications in August! If you would like to speak or meet with Nurse White please leave a message with the office staff or send an email to rwhite@ohsd.net. Looking forward to a healthy and safe new school year!

Family Connection Conferences

Skyward Enroller for Family Connection Conferences for students entering first-fourth grade will open on August 26th at 4:00 PM and will close on August 31st at 12 PM. Please be sure to get your family signed up.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled conference time in order to complete the required school paperwork. All necessary paperwork will be available for parents to fill out here on campus.

Please be prepared to discuss any wonderings about the upcoming school year with your child's classroom teacher. Family Connection Conferences will focus on your child's strengths and how we can best support your family in the upcoming school year.

Arrival and Dismissal Changes

I am so excited to see you all back on campus in the next few weeks! In n effort to help ease traffic flow and make the pick-up and drop-off process easier for families, our arrival and dismissal procedures have changed. Over the last several years, the number of families who drive to and from school has increased significantly. This has led to some challenges in traffic congestion, especially during dismissal. There are a few ways you can help:

  • Utilize our transportation services, if you qualify for busing. Please be sure to check the transportation website for more information.
  • Walk or bike to school! This is a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors and develop a shared plan for getting to and from school.
* If you need help developing the best route for your child(ren), please reach out!

  • Carpool. If you need to drive, then drive together!
  • If you must drive, there are some changes that you'll need to be aware of including:
* Please do not wait/park on campus or on NE Regatta Street. This is for the safety of our community and to help ensure the smooth running of our transportation routes.

We really appreciate your continued support of our Orca Community and need your help ensuring the safety of our community and students and easing the traffic congestion during dismissal.

See you all soon,

Mrs. Lucero

Importance of this form

For the 2021-22 school year, all the meals for the students will be free again thanks to the USDA. However, we strongly encourage all parents to submit a Free and Reduced Lunch Form. Filling out a meal application may help provide many resources for your student and their school. In addition, eligible families who fill out the form before August 31 may qualify for P-EBT benefits. You may pick up an application at any school or the district office. Electronic forms are available on our website or by accessing the Food Service tab in Skyward Family Access. It's critical our families complete this step. Much of our school's funding is tied around our free or reduced meal percentage. Please take a few minutes to fill out the form and see if you qualify. Families who do qualify may be eligible for additional federal benefits later this year. Please contact us if you have any questions.
