Connecting. Achieving. Preparing.
The isd12.org Website Redesign Launched on Friday, April 28!
It may take some time getting used to the new website, but our hope is that our new site is even easier for our stakeholders to navigate while putting our best foot forward as a district for prospective families and employees. A few reminders on how to navigate the new site:
Main Navigation + Schools
The Main Navigation button is the three stacked horizontal lines. Clicking on this will show you all of your options for navigating the site. This will be consistent whether you’re on a desktop or your mobile device so your navigation experience will be seamless. Selecting Schools next to the navigation button enables you to get to a school or program quickly. (See photo above for the location of the Main Navigation button--three stacked horizontal lines.)
Parent Hubs
Parent, Student and Staff Hubs are located in the same top right menu button as shown above. These pages are intended to be one-stop-shops for all of your go-to needs as a parent, student or staff member. (See photo above for the location of the parent, student, and staff hubs--a one-stop shop for information.)
Phone-Free Fridays at The Middle School
The Middle School identified three Fridays in April as a "Phone-Free Friday Lunch" and encouraged students to put their phones away and talk to their peers around them.
Members of the Centennial High School National Honor Society, Elle Hinds, Amanda Miller, Aidan Ballard, and Tyler Celotta, were guests in the lunch room as they talked to students about the positive and negative effects of social media.
Around 95% of the Middle School students participated! Some feedback from students: "It's actually really fun." "We got to talk to our friends more." "[Lunch] was better because everyone was talking."
Snapshots of the 2023 Prom
This year marked the first year since COVID that prom was not held outside on the stadium turf or in the gym. A shout out to Infinite Campus for hosting!
Fourth Grade Students Perform and Celebrate Knowledge
This group of fourth grade students at Golden Lake Elementary are hungry to learn! They performed the musical, "Hungry to Learn: A Celebration of Knowledge," to their friends and family in April.
Clean-Up, Clean-Up
In honor of Earth Day 2023, the student council at Rice Lake Elementary led a clean up of their school grounds. All students pitched in during recess time. A shout out to the council for their leadership!
Did You Know? Whooping Cranes Spotted
Centennial Middle School students spotted Whooping Cranes while studying science in their own school backyard during the warm stretch of days in April. Thanks, Bridget Knisely, for your investigation and contacts with The International Crane Foundation in Wisconsin to learn more. It is believed the flock was en route to breeding grounds in Wisconsin where the foundation reported missing birds who hadn't made it back from their winter in Florida. The early April snow might have taken them off-course, taking a detour through our neck of the woods. Whooping Cranes have not been re-established in Minnesota and are endangered and very rare. It was a treat to see for our junior scientists!

Kindergarten Round-Up and Registration
Centerville Elementary held its annual Kindergarten Round-Up on April 25 for its incoming class of 2036, where children enjoyed fun activities in the classroom while parents spent time with Principal Macken learning about what is in store for their kids next year. Teachers and staff warmly greeted the future graduates and provided them with goodie bags and activities to prepare them for their first year of school. The event was a great success, setting the tone for an exciting journey for the kindergarten class of 2036.
