A biography is an account of someone's life written by someone else. A biography recounts a person's life in chronological order, uses actual events and people witnessed by the person, some significant contributions, and events and obstacles they had to overcome. An example of a biography is Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson.
An autobiography is an account of a person's life written by that person. An autobiography uses most of the same characteristics of a biography, but it also uses I, we, and us, may include flashbacks, and is written in first person view. Some examples of autobiographies are Night by Elie Wiesel and The Diary of Anne Frank.
An example of a biography short story is Jack London by Irving Shepard. This short story is a biography because it is someone else writing about Jack London's life and accomplishments. Jack London was an American author, journalist, and social activist. He wrote such classics as White Fang and The Call of the Wild.
