Eclipse News

As of today, SMS plans for the historic total eclipse on Monday, August 21st are unclear. It appears that our spring order for eclipse glasses from will not be filled. While this is a disappointment, we are working diligently to give all of our students a good learning opportunity. We are planning to experience the eclipse via live stream from NASA and news sources. More information will be announced next week.

Athletic Ticketing News

We've got exciting news about athletic tickets for SMS events! We are piloting a new program designed to increase student attendance and give adults more flexibility in paying for events.

SMS Football- Tickets are $3 for K-12 attendees and adults. There are no individual passes for football.

All other SMS activities- K-12 Scott 2 students will be admitted FREE to all other SMS sports events (excluding tournaments). Adults may pay $4 for individual game tickets or may purchase a 10-punch Warrior Pass for $30. Mom attends alone, one punch. Mom and dad bring grandpa, 3 punches. Got a soccer player and a volleyball player? Use the passes for multiple sports and multiple seasons. Finish October with two punches left? Use the punches at a basketball game. Warrior Passes will be available at all SMS ticketed athletic events. (NOTE: Warrior Passes cannot be used at elementary events, SHS events, or SMS football events.)

SMS students that attend a lot of SHS sports events should consider getting a Student All Sports pass for $30. Pick up an order form in the office next week. Families that attend a lot of high school and middle school events can purchase a Family All Sports Pass for $230. Individual Adult All Sport passes are $110 and Individual Senior All Sport Passes are $95. All sport passes can be purchased from Scottsburg High School.

Got Fuel?

Every student needs fuel to maximize learning opportunities. To help fuel your brain, make sure you are eating a healthy breakfast and lunch each day. Hydrate yourself by drinking water during the day. SMS students can drink plain water in transparent bottles/containers.

Any student that cannot eat breakfast at home is invited to eat breakfast at school. The breakfast line is open from 7:40-8:00 AM each day. Students arriving on the later Lexington bus can also eat provided that they go straight to the lunchroom when the bus arrives.

Lunch options will expand for all students on Monday. On August 14, we will officially open The Grill. The grill will have several ala carte options as well as a 'build a lunch' option.

Ala carte items and prices are below. Any of these individual items require money in the account. Students can 'build a lunch' at the Grill by choosing items from three of the five food categories: meat/meat alternative, vegetable, fruit, grain, and/or milk. A Grill lunch will cost the same as a standard tray lunch in the main service line.

Students can make lunch deposits ANY morning in the cafeteria. Grab a deposit envelope from the cart in front of the service line. Fill in your name, deposit amount, and lunch number. Seal in your cash or check. Put the envelope in the locked box. Note: money deposited after 8:30 AM will not go into accounts until the next day. Parents/guardians can also make lunch deposits online in Harmony.

Tray line and Grill options will be listed every day in the Nutrislice App. Find a link to Nutrislice at the bottom of each Scoop issue and on our webpage.
