Trident Pānui
Term 2 - Week 7
Principal's Message
Congratulations to all of our seniors who made the most of our NCEA Progress Days and came into school to complete work, extend themselves to Merit or Excellence, or practice for externals. It was wonderful to see so many students, and the atmosphere in school was one of informal productivity. Students were appreciative of the opportunity, enjoyed the ability to wear non-uniform, and felt satisfaction at the mahi they could achieve in uninterrupted blocks of time. Our teachers were amazing - completely agile and flexible in working with disparate groups and individuals to attend to their academic needs. We look forward to seeing the results of this initiative once all the moderation and marking has been completed. Thank you to whānau for supporting your students to come into school and prioritise their learning at this key point in the year.
Last weekend, we hosted the Trident 50th Jubilee celebrations and welcomed back many past students and staff members. It was interesting to listen to their stories of their experiences at the school and reassuring to hear them say that although the facilities at the school have expanded and improved, the school still has heart, felt warm and caring. The success of the weekend was in no small part due to a raft of volunteers who gave up their time to ensure that the school looked amazing, was staffed with tour guides, wait staff, and general helpers, and provided a range of activities. Huge thanks are due to all of these members of the extended Trident community. There will be photos to share over the next few weeks for those who were present on the night of the Jubilee Dinner.
Ngā mihi,

Smokefree RockQuest 2023
A group of talented Year 12 students took the stage at Smokefree RockQuest 2023. The band, consisting of Braeden Webster, Ollie Fredericksen, Zealia Peretini, Leah Rowe, Zymon Marasigan, and Sakura Melbourne, delivered an awesome performance of their original song "Dead Roses." Their hard work and dedication were evident as they captivated the audience.
Year 12 PE Adrenaline Forest Trip!
Our adventurous group of 60 year 12 students took on the challenge of the Adrenaline Forest Course as part of our risk management assessment.
This thrilling activity provided our students with an incredible opportunity to test their physical and mental abilities, while also developing essential skills such as teamwork and communication.
Not only did this activity serve as an awesome experience for our Year 12 PE class, but it also allowed them to analyse and manage risks effectively.
A massive thank you to the Adrenaline Forest team for providing us with a safe and challenging environment to put our risk management skills to the test.
Waikato/BOP Cross Country Champs
Trident had seven students compete in the Waikato/BOP Cross Country Champs in Tauranga. The weather was great, and there was a good turnout with 325 entrants from 39 schools.
In the Year 9 girls' category, Charlotte Anthony and Ros Eustace performed well in their first bay champs. Jacques Collembet also had a strong run, finishing in a time of 12 minutes 17 seconds.
In the Junior boys' section, both Sean Jones and Gabriel Aruquipa-Southerwood put in a great effort, with Sean finishing 5th and Gabriel 6th. As a result, both of them received invitations to compete for Waikato/ BOP in the National team event.
Oliver and Xavier Christie were our final runners of the day in the Senior boys' section. They both ran well and it was a solid build up for the Nationals next weekend. Oliver secured 6th place and Xavier finished 14th
