News From the Nest
Week of December 13-17, 2021
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL HONOHAN
Falcon Family,
What a wonderful week of student-driven showcases and experiences! Our Elementary Chorus, Music Club and Percussion Ensemble put on beautiful Winter Concert all under the direction of Mr. Chad Walters. This amazing show was enjoyed by all and we are so proud of the dedication and talent shown on Thursday evening.
This week, our school hosted the OCPS Innovation Office principals for their monthly meeting. Our students really stepped up in creative ways! Led by Mrs. Critcher, the APSK8 Cooking Club collaborated with Partner in Ed, Swine and Sons. They created a custom Omelet bar where our visitors were amazed with the student-chefs' techniques and the quality and delicious taste of the Omelets. Student-makers also took center stage, presenting the visitors with a look at their creative business ideas and products. Principals got to shop the goods for early holiday shopping. 2nd graders in Mrs. Robert's class were our expert Animal Ambassadors, teaching the visitors about each animal in our Media Center.
Friday saw our 6th graders take their garden beds from Harvest to Market with an extraordinary day of hands-on learning, culminating in a Falcon Fresh Market experience after school where they sold the produce that they've grown over the last 2 months. Shout out to the 6th grade teaching team, Mrs. Pellarin and Mrs. Critcher for encouraging this opportunity through their annual PBL "Food for Thought" unit of study.
Finally, our Volleyball Team ended their playoff run on Monday against Blankner K8. We are so proud of Coach Howe and the boys' team for making it to District level. Great teamwork and effort!
As we wind up this final week, I wish each and every family a restful and joyous Winter Break.
Trevor Honohan
