It is hard to believe how quickly this school year is passing! We will be recruiting chairmen positions for 2020-2021 school year very soon. Where do your interests lie? Click the link to see the current chair positions, 2019-2020 Chairmen List. Think about it! If you already have something in mind, please let me know by email or phone. Copeland is very proud of their volunteers and all that they do! We are such a successful school because of our wonderful volunteers like you!

I hope to see all the Moms & Sons at the Ultimate Tailgate on Saturday, February 29, from 2 – 4 pm. Rain or Shine we will be there. Our community Movie Night and Silent Auction is coming up at the end of March. We are currently seeking donations from businesses to include in our silent auction. If you know a business owner or frequent an establishment, please ask if they would be interested in donating to our silent auction. As a parent do you have something you would like to donate to our auction? All donations are welcome and will help raise money for our Copeland Colts!

Thanks again for all you do to make our school so fabulous! We could not do any of this without you! As always, if you have questions/concerns/ideas regarding PTO, please feel free to contact me at

Congrats to Danielle Washington, our February Volunteer of the Month!

Thank you, Danielle, for all the hours you put in at Copeland. You are AMAZING! It's people like you that make Copeland the best school our kids can be at. Enjoy your RESERVED parking spot up front! This is our way of thanking you for everything you do at Copeland Elementary and the SRC.

Who will it be next month??? Log your hours now. If you need to know how, see the bottom of this newsletter for step by step directions on how to use Raptor, our volunteer hour recording system for CyFair ISD.

Volunteer Shout Out to our Library Helpers

We'd love to give a volunteer shout-out this month to our wonderful Copeland Library volunteers. These ladies devote a lot of hours to keep a regular shift to help Mrs. Buchert and all of our students in the library! They assist in checking out books for kids, checking books in when they are returned, shelving books, and countless other projects to keep the library running in tip-top shape. Most parents never see these ladies working hard from week to week, but your kids know their smiles and kind words.

Thank you Valerie Effinger, Deepa Ozarkar, Andrea Packer, Lesli Morisak, Irene Puente, Tara Hall, Holly Green, Diana Killmer, Romy Amieiro, Amanda Ball, Doris Lindsay, Stephanie Mueller, and Melanie Ablack.

Multicultural Day Volunteers

Hello, Hola, Ni hao, Konnichiwa, Bonjour, Ciao, Sawubona, and G'day!!

Copeland 3rd Graders will once again be experiencing Multicultural Day on March 6th! This is a fun and exciting day, as third grade will travel around the world on a learning expedition to explore authentic cultures from 7 different countries! They will learn about the dynamics of each country, enjoy authentic food, participate in traditional games or create a traditional craft from each country. The kids may dress in any traditional cultural clothing of their choice on this day.

The teachers and kids are very excited, but in order to make this day a success, we will need lots of help from all Copeland parents (even if your child isn't in 3rd grade, you can pitch in!). Please consider signing up to send one or more of the items needed or volunteer your time to help out! We need volunteers the day before to help teachers set up the rooms AND the day of our event as a Tour Guide.

Click here to sign up, 3rd Grade Multicultural Day. This is a great day to experience with the students, and remember - your child does not have to be in third grade for you to join in the fun!

The Garden by Tracy Reynolds

The 3rd grade garden has 2 projects that we would love to add to our garden. Parents, if you have older siblings that need community service projects or hours, this could be an easy option.

We are simply planting some fruit trees and putting in a small water feature. If you know anyone who could help, please let me know at

Also, the 3rd graders are still selling bluebonnet seeds to help fund the supplies needed for the garden. The garden needs help with watering, especially with spring break coming. The 3rd graders are busy planting the spring crops, that they will harvest before school is out for the year.

Science Resource Center

Science demos are in full swing this Spring! We have presentations lined up for every grade in February and March, and we couldn't do it without all of the wonderful volunteers who took time to attend the SRC demo trainings.

Our first demo of 2020 was Second grade Snakes! Thank you to Brandy Clark for helping present, the kiddos loved hearing all about reptiles; they watched a video of a snake eating an egg and even got to touch a Rat Snake! Coming up later this month is Kinder Hedgehogs and Fifth grade Bird Study Skins.

Log your Volunteer Hours to get more money for our school!

Working for our kids as a volunteer is both rewarding and important. Please log your volunteer hours in our Raptor Portal. The more volunteer hours we log the more money we get from the state.

CFISD has provided an online program to make it easier on volunteers to log and track their

volunteer hours. This program is called Raptor, which is part of the V-Soft security software

that helps keep our schools safe.

Copeland does not have logbooks in the front office to record your hours. So, in order to

log your hours, you will need to establish a raptor account. This is quite easy and will allow

you to log your hours at home.

The steps to register online are as follows:

1. Go to or click on the "New to Raptor" button below.

2. Complete this form in its entirety and submit (you must have an email address to do this)

3. You will receive an email from with your account information and password.

4. Once you receive the email use the button below to log in to your account.

5. Add this website to your favorites (this is where you will log hours)

6. Log in with email and password

7. Select campus

8. Select the tabs you will need

This program will be used to determine volunteer of the month and reporting our total volunteer hours to the district, enabling them to apply for various grants and programs.
