Seat selection for Band Banquet will be Tuesday (8-8:45 AM) and Wednesday (8-8:45 AM and 4:00 - 4:30 PM). Look for Mrs. Bentson in the band hall. You MUST be paid in full or bring payment with you before you can get your seat.

If you miss seat selection, please send who you would like to sit by. Also, students will be selecting seats for parents, so please tell them (or me) your preference.

PAYMENTS:

Look for an email or text from Kim if we don't have a payment yet from you. Have questions? reach out to me or Charlene Kasse, Treasurer.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

Thanks to everyone who has volunteered! We need a few more to jump in. Help is needed in several ways to help with the banquet including chaperoning the dance, check-in, and decorating. Because we are on a Friday this year, we will need more parent help since students will be in school. I also added a Thursday night option to prep decor (blowing up balloons (I have a pump) and other items.) If you can help for part of the time - just add that in the comments. Appreciate it! Here is the link to the sign-up genius.

SMU Young Artist Flute Ensemble

We invite your students to audition for Southern Methodist University's Young Artist Flute Ensembles (SMU YAFE) for the Fall 2022 semester. Started in 2019 as a way to help young flutists develop into mature players, SMU YAFE is led by renowned flute teacher Claire Johnson and myself, flutist for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and adjunct associate professor of flute at SMU Meadows School of the Arts Division of Music.

SMU YAFE is geared toward advanced middle and high school flutists in the DFW area who are looking for an opportunity to improve their musicianship through the art of chamber music. Each student will have the opportunity to work in small chamber groups as well as flute choir. We also invite each student to take part in our yearly Flute Concerto competition, the winner of which will be featured at our season's end concert. Other performance opportunities include a concert closing out each semester. The spring semester also offers flute-specific masterclasses, which will feature both YAFE staff as well as guest artists.

Please see the attached flyer for more details regarding YAFE auditions on May 15th. I look forward to hearing from you and any questions you may have. Feel free to reach out to me at welch@smu.edu.

Regards,

Kara Welch
