The Comet Connection Back to School

Marrs Elementary School Newsletter:Summer Edition 2023

Welcome Back

On behalf of the staff at Marrs Elementary School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year! The first day of school for students is Tuesday, August 8th and we can’t wait to see all of their smiling faces!

In the interest of safety for all students and staff, we will continue to utilize our current safety plan. Please review the attached document that outlines arrival, dismissal, visitor policies, supervision, and parking lot safety. On opening day, staff members will be present to greet your child and escort them to breakfast, or their designated location. Parents are not allowed to enter the school with their children in the morning, as it would be too difficult to monitor so many adults inside the building at once. Staff members will be on duty to escort students to their designated areas. All students( including car riders and bus riders) will enter through Door #1 and all other doors will be locked down. Door # 1 will be locked down promptly at 8:10 AM. If you arrive late, please walk your child to the door and sign them in with the nurse or secretary. School safety is our number one priority, and the purpose of this safety plan is to maximize the safety of every student, staff member, and visitor of Marrs Elementary School.

School Saftey-Highlights

  • No visitors are allowed in the building during pick up and drop off
  • Volunteers MUST complete a background check every year. Applications can be completed in the main office and must be in person.
  • Students are not permitted in the building before 7:30 AM. If you require an earlier drop-off, you must register with YCARE.
  • All students must enter through Door 1 in the morning
  • Door # 1 will be locked down promptly at 8:10 AM. If you arrive late, please walk your child to the door and sign them in with the nurse or secretary.
  • Do not drive through the bus loading zone at any time
  • Do not exit your vehicle in the pick-up loop. If you need to strap your child into their car seat, please pull through the loop to the far left, or into a designated parking space.

  • Students should enter and exit the vehicle on the driver's side to avoid crossing traffic.
