JAVA JAM XII
CBC YOUTH MINISTRY SPECIAL EVENTS
JAVA JAM XII @ CHINESE BAPTIST CHURCH
AUGUST 10, 2018 from 6:00-10:00pm
WHAT IS JAVA JAM?
Aspects of Java Jam:
- Serving: a huge part of Java Jam is the core value of "service". It takes hundreds of hours to pull something like Java Jam off. There's the planning aspect, logistics, and the actual day of. We want to constantly push our people to understand that serving others is part of what it means to follow Christ. At Java Jam we get to do this on many levels - cooking, cleaning, hosting, planning, etc.
- Food: we do offer food throughout the night and while the menu has changed over the years our goal is to offer quick, simple, delicious food at an extremely reasonable price.
- Raffles & Silent Auction: Our ultimate purpose of Java Jam is not to make money so when people ask whether this is a fundraiser, it's really not. The income that is generated from the silent auction and food (raffles are all free) goes back into youth missions or given away to other organizations. The raffle and silent auction items are all donated from businesses and supporters from the church. We ask businesses to support the event but more so to support the purpose of this youth ministry.
- Music: An aspect of Java Jam...well the "jam" part is the music. We try to have 3 to 4 bands come and share their musical talents with us. Usually it's friends of our youth group or someone we just know. We want to give them a space to showcase their talents but also through their music edify Christ and his church. If you know of musical guests please let us know. All of our musical guests are volunteers which means we only pay them through "food"
Helping with the Raffles & Silent Auction
- Go online to the business and request a donation from their "contact us" page.
Here's a sample where you can copy and paste:
"Hello there! We are a local non profit youth group in Houston and we are hosting our eleventh annual community event. We would love if you could partner with us with your support.
We would love to send you a donation letter request. But the short of it is that we are a local youth ministry committed to develop youth, equip families, and build the community. Our youth put on an annual event to allow students to gather after the summer and the proceeds from raffles and silent auction goes to volunteer work, leadership development, and community building. Thank you so much.
