Reaching High at the Peak

A Gavilan Peak Newsletter - September 2019

Dear Parents, Students and Community,

My name is Chad Segersten and I am the proud principal of Gavilan Peak. It is hard to believe it is already September. We are off to a fast start and things are going well. Early release PLC days have started out great, teachers are using this time to collaborate on 4 key questions.

  1. What do we want students to learn (using state standards)?
  2. What does mastery learning of the standards look like?
  3. What do we do when a student does not master a given standard (intervention)?
  4. What do we do if a student has mastered a given standard (extending learning)?

Reminder of the communication opportunities from Gavilan Peak.

Communication will happen 5 distinct ways from Gavilan Peak to meet the various needs of our families and community.

  1. Ongoing communication directly from classroom teachers via email or their web pages.
  2. Quarterly full color magazines.
  3. This newsletter, which will come out monthly.
  4. Quarterly Coffee Talks with the Principal on various topics.
  5. Bi-weekly email or phone blast, with in time information.
