Vision screenings at Middle School East will be conducted on November 15th and 16th.

You, as the parent or legal guardian, have the right to decline this service for your child. If you DO NOT want the Marion County Public Health Department to conduct a vision screening on your child, please complete the bottom half of the letter below and return it to school.

Indianapolis Public Library

The Franklin Township School District is partnering with The Indianapolis Public Library to make sure that every student in the township has a library card. Having a library card ensures that students are connected to the wealth of print and digital resources that are available through The Indianapolis Public Library.

This partnership provides an opportunity to create seamless learning opportunities for all of your students, who might need to use their library card to access electronic resources to support their class curriculum.

Here are the details for The Indianapolis Public Library card:

· If your student has never had a card, they will receive a new library card that will give them full access to all E-Resources as well as limited access to physical material.

· If your student has had a library card but it has expired, if there are no fines on their account, their card will be renewed and only the number will be provided..

· If your student has had a library card, and there are fines of $5.00 or more on their account, their card will be renewed and their number will be provided to allow access to online material. They will also be enrolled in the library’s Earn and Learn Program. This program allows students to get out of debt by reading down their fines. Students will still be able to borrow a limited number of physical items and will have full access to all E-Resources. Additional information about the program is available at The Indianapolis Public Library.

If for some reason you do NOT want your student to receive a library card from The Indianapolis Public Library, please complete the OPT OUT information at the bottom of the letter below and return it to the FTMSE library.

They advanced to the semifinals in the afternoon but fell to Eastwood to deny a championship game appearance. 8th grade lost on the road to a tough Lynhurst team on Wednesday, 9/13 while the 7th grade came away victorious.

East and West Boys and Girls Cross Country competed well at the annual Westland Round Up. Congratulations to the East Flashes for securing 3rd place overall in the boys and girls varsity races. Several Flashes from both East and West finished in the top 20 to earn individual honors. All results can be found here at this link

FTMS Football 8 “A” earned a solid road win this past Wednesday, 9/13 at Southport, 20-8. The team will be in action next week at Perry Meridian and will host Greenfield Central on 9/21.

East and West Boys Basketball Tryouts will be held on Tuesday October 3rd and October 4th after school from 3-5pm. All interested boys intending on trying out for basketball must have a current IHSAA physical on file in the athletic office. Those trying out will need to attend study tables on this day and have athletic clothing and shoes.

Attention FTMS-East Families:

Veterans Day will be celebrated this year on Friday, November 10th. Veterans Day allows us to show our appreciation to members of our military, past and present. The FTMS-East Random Acts of Kindness Club, along with our students here at East, would like to say thank you to a beloved family member of yours who is currently stationed overseas or to one who is a retired Serviceman/Servicewoman with hand-written cards/notes and a treat bag. If you have a family member either stationed overseas in the military or retired from the military, please contact Mrs. Hewitt, the Sponsor of the Club, via email at, or leave a message for her at 317/803-8141 no later than Friday, September 15th. The Random Acts of Kindness Club looks forward to brightening a day of some of our current and former Servicemen and Servicewomen!!!
