Principal's Note: Doodle for Google
Message from Michelle Lawniczak & Julie Garry:
We are excited to announce that McKenzie students will have the opportunity to participate in the Doodle for Google. In February, students will visit the Makery in the Learning Commons, as part of their STEAM activity, to begin their Google doodle. It is up to them as to whether they wish to continue the activity at home and enter the contest. Doodle for Google is an annual contest open to students in grades K-12. Students are invited to create their own original Google doodle for the chance to have it featured on Google.com, as well as win some great scholarships and tech packages for their schools. This year’s theme of the doodle is “When I grow up, I hope…”
Submitting the artwork:
If you would like your child to submit their artwork to Google, a parent/guardian signature is required in order for McKenzie to submit it on your child’s behalf. Please note, only one entry per child is allowed. Parents are able to submit their own child’s work online or students may return them to Mrs. Garry or Ms. Lawniczak on or before March 8th.
Doodles are meant to surprise and delight people when they visit Google.com. Past Doodles have celebrated some of the most brilliant, talented, and passionate people throughout history. Doodle for Google offers students K-12 an opportunity to display their own artwork on Google.com.
For more information please visit Google’s How it Works page.

We will train twice a week for 10 weeks after school and finish with a 5K run at Butler Field (downtown) on Sunday, June 9. Bus transportation is provided to/from the race. On race day, your daughter will need to have a running buddy (a parent or other adult). We have requested practices at McKenzie on Mondays and Fridays immediately after school, but are waiting for confirmation. Please do not worry if your daughter can’t make every single practice, we are flexible!
