Principal's Message
I can't believe that August is nearly gone. This year has been the smoothest start to school I have experienced in a long time. Your kids show up each day ready to learn and we are having a wonderful time teaching them and watching them learn and grow.
Next week we are opening up to allow lunch visitors. I will share our rules for this in the newsletter below, but I want to give a little rationale. If you come to eat lunch with your child, this should be an opportunity for you to connect with your kid. We are asking that this be a tech free time for both you and your child. I know it's hard to ignore the emails and phone calls you get, but it's important for your child that they know you are there to spend time with them and that is something you value.
Setting aside tech free family time is important at home as well. I challenge you to talk with your family tonight and decide on a block of time each day when everyone will put down their technology and do something together. Maybe you start with just family dinner or perhaps you want to schedule a weekly family game night. I promise, these will be the moments you treasure most.
With gratitude,
Stephanie Haga

National Anthem Project
Everyone is invited to SING our National Anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner” with our students and staff on Thursday, September 14th at 8:00 am. This is not an invitation to come and watch. It is an invitation to come and SING! The Northview High School Marching Band will be accompanying our event. You may even see a cheerleader or football player.
This is our 16th year celebrating the date when Francis Scott Key wrote what became known as our National Anthem in September of 1814 during the British attack on Fort McHenry. He was asking in various ways, “Can you still see the flag?” because the flag represented our country’s freedom and winning the battle.
See you at the flagpole!
Lunch Visitors-Will be allowed starting September 7
If you choose to come eat with your child, we ask:
- That this is a tech free time for both you and your child. Please do not allow your child to play games or watch tv while you are here to spend time with them.
- Do not bring fast food for your child. If you would like to purchase lunch from the cafeteria to eat with your child, you are welcome to do so, but outside restaurant food is not allowed.
- Only your child is allowed to join you. Students cannot bring friends to the visitor lunch table.
