Central Tiger Tales
A Leader in Me School - September 2020
A Message From Your Principal
Hello Central Families,
Fall is in the air and believe it or not we have almost completed the first quarter of our school year! We are looking forward to celebrating the academic accomplishments of our students as we wrap up our very first quarter of the year on October 14th. Our staff and students will also begin preparations for our eLearning Practice Day on Wednesday October 21st at Central. Although students had months of practice accessing eLearning lessons last spring during the COVID quarantine, our instructional team will provide a day of practice to answer any questions students may have to get ready for our three scheduled eLearning days on Monday, October 26, Tuesday, October 27, and Wednesday, October 28. More information on Tech Tips will be forthcoming from the district for our parent community.
Fun times are ahead next Friday, October 9th as our Central Tiger Cubs put on their walking shoes to raise funds for Central Elementary! Our Central students are walking toward a financial goal of raising $10,000 during the WALK-A-THON this year! Students will have the opportunity to earn Prizes for their fundraising efforts. Mr. Salsman, Assistant Principal, is ready to receive a pie in the face from every student who raises $150, and Mrs. Outcalt again is prepared to kiss a mystery animal when our students reach their $10,000 goal!
After students complete their walking steps, they will collect the pledge money and return the pledge packet to school by Friday, October 16th. Students who wish to be eligible for WALK-A-THON prizes must turn in funds raised by the deadline of Friday, October 16th, however we will continue to receive donations beyond that date. An outstanding weather forecast is predicted for our WALK-A-THON date with a high of 70 degrees and sunny. PLEASE DRESS YOUR STUDENT APPROPRIATELY FOR OUTDOOR TEMPERATURES AS WELL AS TENNIS SHOES FOR COMFORTABLE WALKING.
Our Tiger Cubs will walk outdoors during the WALK-A-THON and continue to practice our safety procedures within their own classroom families during Specials classes. Three separate “walking tracks” will be available to support social distancing on the Central campus: Front Parking Lot; Backyard Paved Lot; and a Grass Track on the playground. During physical exercise, students have the option of wearing their masks outdoors.
NOTE: From the hours of 9:00am-3:30pm the front parking lot area will not be accessible from Williams Street on October 9th. We will be blocking the front parking lot entrance and exit points, as well as the backyard playground area in order to secure a safe walking path for our students to raise funds for Central Elementary. Please note that the Car Rider Line will still form on Williams Street and the caution cones will be removed from the entrance and exit points after 3:30pm when the event is completed.
THANK YOU ALL for your continued support of our Central students and staff, and a very special thanks to our Central PTO in coordinating this annual fundraising event.
Yours in education,
Rebecca Outcalt
Principal

News From Your Nurse - Toileting Accidents
At the elementary level, toileting accidents are a normal occurrence. In the event of an accident, a child is sent to the clinic to change clothes, soiled clothing is put into a bag to go home, and a change of clothing is provided to the student. All toileting accidents are addressed with confidentiality and support. If your child is prone to toileting issues, please provide the school with extra clothes from home to be stored in their backpack. The school does not stock a large supply of clothing. At this time, the clinic has loaned a large amount of shorts to students that have not been returned. If your student has borrowed clothing from the clinic, please return the shorts, pants, or shirts. Underwear does not need to be returned. If you have any further concerns or questions please contact Mrs. Bland.
