Growth Mindset For Home Ideas
As we begin to dive more into Growth Mindset this year. We will be learning about a fixed mindset vs. a growth mindset. Our lessons will include engaging activities and thoughtful discussions, such learning about the elastic brain and acting out growth mindset scenarios. In fact we are practicing these strategies in our family meeting lesson today! Our hope is that your student will develop a growth mindset throughout the year. We would love for you to talk with your student about and encourage having a growth mindset at home.
Here are some strategies you can try at home to support your student to develop a growth mindset:
*Find ways to keep situations positive and find a way to make a negative thought a positive one.
*Discuss goals your student has at home and at school.
*Share your own goals with your student and how you plan to achieve them: both big and small.
Morning Drop Off Reminder
-If you have student that will be eating breakfast, breakfast starts at 8:25 and we will be opening our doors then. Please feel free to drop your students off at this time so they may enjoy their breakfast.
-If you have a student who is helping with honor patrol, they may also arrive at 8:25. We do not need them coming any earlier.
Thank you for being mindful of this and helping with the safety and security here at Riverview!
Late Start Day is Coming.......
Make Plans Now
The Board of Education approved three (3) delayed start days for the 2021-22 school year. The first delayed start date is Wednesday, September 22. Students will begin school two (2) hours later than normal. Students will need to be at school for their first class at 10:45 a.m.
Students who ride the bus will simply add two hours to their normal pick up time. For example, if the normal pick-up time is 8:05 a.m., the pick-up time on September 22 would be 10:05 a.m. The other two dates for delayed starts will be November 10 and April 6.

Things to Remember In the Mornings
-Don't forget your water bottle
-Don't' forget to tell Mrs. Turpin hi on your way in
-AND Oh.....Don't forget your mask!
*Parents please remind students that as they are walking in the building that they need to put their masks on as they enter.
*IF by chance a student forgets their mask, we do have extra's in the office. We are running low though, so please be mindful of that!
*If anybody comes across or would like to donate masks to the front office, we will be willing and able to receive those!
Thanks for remembering all these things in the mornings!
WE GET TO SING.....
Dear families,
The school district’s elementary music team would like to share information about this year's music performances to help with planning. In an effort to return to as much normalcy as possible, while prioritizing student and staff safety, we will use the following guidelines:
· We will prepare grade level programs in music class and combine those classes in the gym for their scheduled performances.
· In lieu of evening performances, a school-day performance will be recorded and shared with families.
· In-person audiences will be limited to staff and students.
· Information about the 4th and 5th grade choir will be shared with families soon.
· Procedures for choir performances will be the same as grade level programs.
Thank you so much for your support of your child's music education in USD 232.
Sincerely,
USD 232 Elementary Music Staff

A Special Message from our Food and Nutrition Department
The school district is thrilled to announce that all students eat FREE in 21-22! We are able to offer this benefit to students because of the federal government’s seamless summer meals program. This includes breakfast and lunch when students are in session. Please note the free meals will only be provided as a complete meal per federal program guidelines. Drinks (milk, juice) to accompany a home lunch are considered a la carte items and cost $0.55 each. Students must have sufficient funds available in their food service accounts in order to purchase extra items.
Our team is hard at work creating new recipes and making plans to return favorite items to our menus this school year. To see the most up-to-date menu, please visit our online menu at usd232.nutrislice.com.
