Central Earns The Triple Top 10 Award!

Have you heard? We are one of only five schools across the state receiving an award for finishing in the Top 10 in all three academic contests: Spell Bowl (first place), Math Bowl (first place), and Science Bowl (third place). Of the 554 schools who participated in at least one Indiana Academic Competition in the Elementary Division, only 96 are able to field a team in all three programs, and of those, only five are receiving this Award of Excellence, including Central! We are so proud of our kids, families, and coaches. You have represented us so well and have left a legacy of excellence at Central! Great work!

Field Day is Fast Approaching!

We can't wait for Field Day! It will be a fun time for all our kids on Wednesday, May 31st. Thank you for all of you who have volunteered to help! Please be sure you have completed a Background Check if you have not already. Thanks!

Below is a list of team colors by class. Please have your child wear this color, if possible.

This year’s colors will be:

Kindergarten-gray

1st grade-white

2nd grade-green

3rd grade-blue

4th grade-yellow

5th grade-red

Don't forget to put sunscreen on your children before they head out for school! There will be water stations available, but your child may bring a water bottle as well. We can't wait to enjoy the fun stations, the delicious hot dogs on the grill, and the snow cones! Thanks to Mrs. Lain and to all for your help on this fun day!

Yearbooks for Sale

There are a few extra yearbooks available for $15.00 exact change. First come, first served! Please send the money with your child and have them come to the office if they would like to purchase one.

Awards Day

Friday, June 2nd is a very special day here at Central. Students will receive awards for academics, attendance and club participation. Mr. Meyer will lead our amazing choir and Miss Erler, Mrs. Estridge, and Mrs. Jordan along with the fifth grade students will share a wonderful presentation as a farewell to Central School.

PTA and parent volunteers will also be celebrated! We will have a special refreshment area set up when you bring your child at 8:30 a.m. to show our appreciation for those who have helped out in any way this year. We are proud to honor all the hard work you have put in throughout the year!

The program starts at 9:00 a.m. Parents are welcome to attend! We look forward to an exciting ceremony! Hope to see you there!

Teacher Appreciation Thanks!

Our Central staff had a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week! Our Central parents and PTA outdid themselves! Our teachers and staff were provided with several amazing, fun-filled days that we all appreciated and enjoyed so much. From rays of praise, to summer fun gifts, we all are so thankful for all of the many ways you spoiled our staff! None of this would have happened without the help of our wonderful parents.

Our week was topped off with all staff taking home a dinner on Friday night. We would like to thank Danielle Berg-O’Reilly at Duneland Pizza for their generous discounted take-and-bake pizzas that were truly amazing! Head out to Chesterton to sample other varieties at their pizzeria! We would also like to thank Wireman's BBQ for donating food for our delicious luncheon on Wednesday along with Roots & Sunrise Foods for the donation of the salad fixings. Delicious!

Finally, we would like to thank our fantastic chair people, Jaime Perz and Shelby Topping. You truly gave us a week to remember! Thanks to all of you who gave of your time and contributed donations. It is all so greatly appreciated!

*There are still some items left in the lounge. Please be sure to get your bowls, coolers, etc. as soon as possible.

2017-2018 School Calendar

Below you will find the link of the calendar for the 2017-2018 school year. Please note that there will no longer be late start Wednesdays next school year. Instead there will be 1/2 days built into the calendar. These days are each noted on the calendar below.

A Note From Mrs. Sienkowski - Thank You for Everything!

How do I begin to thank you for all of the wonderful memories made during my time at Central? From the moment I began serving as the principal until now I have had the time of my life. You have entrusted me with your children each day and I have learned so much from them. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to love them each day. I know there are many changes ahead for all of us, and I also know that wherever our paths lead, we will find happiness and thrive in our new schools. Our Valparaiso Community Schools are all phenomenal and we are so fortunate for that! For those of you off to Parkview, Principal Anne Wodetzki knows how fortunate she is to work with you and she looks forward to building relationships with you. For those of you off to Heavilin, Dr. Bonnie Stephens is ready to make your new school home feel like home. For those of you who will attend Central at Hayes, get ready for a wonderful adventure! Mrs. Calli Dado, our new principal, our teachers and staff can't wait to greet you and welcome you to our home away from home while Central's renovations take place. Please know that I will look forward to working with you again once your children enter the middle school world. Even though I won't be your elementary principal any longer, I am still here for you in any way. You and your children are etched in my heart and I will always care for them and look forward to helping them in any way needed. Dear friends, I will miss you all so much, but I know this isn't goodbye-it's see you again soon! Thank you again for the time of my life. Enjoy your summer!
