Senior Newsletter
September 2020
THANK YOU!
I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your unwavering support during this transition back to school. Whether it be a course change, question about hybrid schedule, or really anything under the sun, we are in this together. With your dedication, I am excited to get this school year under way.
The links to Scholarships and College/Military Visits that are included in this newsletter will be in every newsletter; however it is my recommendation that you save the link to your device so you can check it at your convenience since they are regularly updated.
Take care,
Mrs. Wagner
To Do List - September
Here are previous newsletters: August
Military (for students looking to enlist)
- You will need to retake the ASVAB if you only took it in 10th grade or want to improve your score. Please let Mrs. Wagner know so she can get you registered! The test is scheduled for Wednesday, November 11th.
- Talk to Mrs. Wagner about speaking with local recruiters to learn about the benefits of joining the military, enlistment process, basic training, etc. For the time being, we will not have the military visit during lunches.
- Check-out the ROTC , NROTC, and other programs colleges all over the US have to offer. Most will pay for your education and you will graduate college as an officer in the affiliated branch.
- Going to a military college? You will need a congressional nomination.
Employment (for students looking to enter the workforce/full-time employment)
- Talk with Mrs. Wagner about your career goals and the industry you see yourself working in. She gets a lot of calls from local businesses looking for employees.
- Set up a job shadow! Find a business on your own or ask for suggestions from Mrs. Wagner. "Essential" businesses are operating.
- Check-out the list of available jobs in the "Class of 2021" Teams Files tab and below!
- Update the resume you made in Mr. Eck's last year. Seek assistance if needed.
College (for students looking to continue their education)
- Attend the virtual college visits and financial aid information sessions that are being offered to our students! Check the link below for an updated list!
- The PACAC Virtual College Exploration Program registration has opened! Check out the enormous list of colleges and presentations available over the next month! - https://pacac.memberclicks.net/virtual
- If you are still developing the list of colleges you want to apply to, but don’t have time to visit (yes, colleges are doing in-person visits), try a virtual tour from CampusTours or YouVisit.
- Did you get those recommendation letters? If not, do so NOW!
- Write that ESSAY! Over 800 colleges use the CommonApp as their college admissions application, so chances are the essay you write can be used for many of your applications. Have a favorite English teacher look over it before final submission.
A Note about Transcripts
Note: Students can get copies of their transcript from me at anytime, without a request form, but they are considered unofficial.
Mrs. Wagner needs 1 WEEK to process paperwork! DO NOT WAIT!
