Lions Park Paw Prints
Letter from the Principal
Dear Lions Park Families,
While I know this continues to be a challenging time in many ways, I have been cheered by many wonderful things happening at Lions Park. Our students and staff have been hard at work on benchmark assessments but also engaging in meaningful learning experiences. We have students writing informational pieces about topics of interest and expertise, students learning how to share their opinions in their writing and students learning about podcasting in preparation for creating their own podcasts. In addition to working hard, students were so excited to finally be able to play in the snow. The field at Lions Park was filled with snowpeople yesterday.
Next week we will be treated to a virtual visit from author, Peter Reynolds. We are very thankful to the PTO for sponsoring this event. We have a limited number of autographed books available. See the order form below if you are interested.
We look forward to more fun ahead with our Valentine's Day parties on February 14th. The PTO room parents will be planning some activities for each class, and students are welcome to bring Valentine's cards to pass out to their classmates. They should bring enough for everyone in their class. Please don't send any cards with food or candy attached. Students may bring cards with stickers, pencils, etc... but no food items.
We are continuing to put mitigations in place to protect our students during this recent surge in COVID cases. We are working on a plan to seat students six feet apart at lunch. This will likely involve having some students sit on the floor. We will invite impacted students to bring a towel from home to sit on and/or provide a placemat or tray. We believe it will help our entire school community to reduce opportunities for spread and decrease the number of students needing to quarantine and learn on Zoom. More details will be shared when the plan is finalized.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me with questions or concerns.
Best wishes,
Katie Kelly
Principal

COVID Vaccination
If your child has received two vaccine doses, you can submit proof of vaccination at this link. The form does require you to have a Google account. If you do not have a Google account, please email a photograph of the proof of vaccination to our school nurse, Mrs. Bauer, at cbauer@d57.org. Students who are two weeks past their second dose are considered to be fully vaccinated. State guidelines say that these students do not have to quarantine due to exposure to COVID. We will still notify these families if their child is a close contact, but the students may continue to come to school.
