Principal's Message
Hello Wildcat families,
Did you know it's Hispanic Heritage Month? Hispanic Heritage Month is an annual celebration of the history and culture of the U.S. Latinx and Hispanic communities. The celebration lasts from September 15 to October 15 and commemorates how the Latinx and Hispanic communities have influenced and contributed to American society at large.
Learning about and celebrating different cultures is a great way to connect your family to the broader community. Linked below are a couple of articles highlighting family friendly events celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in and around the Atlanta Area. Some of these events have already come and gone, but there are still plenty to explore. Enjoy!

COVID Updates
The community spread numbers for COVID are also showing an encouraging downward trend. We went from an incidence rate per 100,000 people of 304.9 on September 14 (the date of my last newsletter) to 222.4 last Friday (Sept. 24) with a new report coming out today that will hopefully be even lower.
If these trends continue, we will consider loosening our protocols as we move into the 2nd nine weeks to allow more volunteers to come in work with kids. More information on this will be shared in our next newsletter on October 12.

PE Week
Wilson Creek is participating in Family PE Week, October 4-8!
Daily physical activity has many benefits for kids, such as increasing energy, focus, and readiness to learn while reducing stress and anxiety. Being active is always important, but never more than during these crazy times. Of course, physical activity has benefits for people of all ages. Let’s celebrate this week being physically active together!

TikTok Challenges
Future challenges, encourage students to hit teachers, continue vandalizing parts of the school building and even to steal school property.
While many of our younger students will know nothing about these challenges, those with access to TikTok or who have friends and family who use this platform will likely be well aware. I encourage you to speak with your kids about it. This is a great opportunity to have conversations with your children about peer pressure and what to do if they are encouraged by others to participate in something they know is wrong.
Students who chose to break school rules by engaging in these TikTok Challenges will be disciplined. Please make sure your children are aware of the consequences and encourage them to make great choices. We appreciate your support as we work together to mold young minds!
Birthdays
A couple of things to keep in mind:
Invitations to birthday parties should be distributed outside of school to protect the feelings of all children. The only exception to this rule is if all boys, or all girls, or the entire class are invited.
Because of the number of students with food allergies and dietary restrictions, treats brought from outside are not permitted to celebrate an individual’s birthday. However, you may purchase ice cream from the cafeteria for the class to have at lunch. Contact Angela Bell, Cafeteria Manager (bella@fultonschools.org), to make arrangements.
Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences
This is a great opportunity for you to learn specifically how your child is doing academically as well as socially within the classroom.
COVID Reporting
If your student has had interaction with a person who is positive for COVID outside of school, if your child has a pending COVID test or has tested positive for COVID , please report that to the portal .
All of the information needed to make a report is HERE or on the front page of the District website at www.fultonschools.org
