DEAR FAMILIES,
Well, we made it through our first week of school and survived a little drizzle on the first day of school. This will be our first full week of the school year, so I expect a lot of tired friends by Friday. We are expecting a much warmer week, so please send your students to school in appropriate attire with lots of water.

DROP OFF AND PICK UP
Thank you for practicing patience in the parking lots at drop off and pick up time. We know it is always a little bumpy at the beginning of the year as students figure out where to meet up with their siblings and families. It will get smoother in the coming weeks and a little patience goes a long way! Please remember to not block the open gates so staff may see all parents at dismissal.
SPIRIT WEAR
Fliers were sent home on the first day of school for t-shirt and sweatshirt orders. Please note that the purple is a "heathered" or soft tee this year.
All orders are due on September 5th. We do not order extra or maintain an inventory, so please do not forget to order by the deadline.
Extra fliers are available in the office.
PTA MOVIE NIGHT
Thank you to our PTA and all those that attended movie night. It was a great way to kick off the new year.
We also want to thank Victor at Rock N Roll Cafe for providing the food service.
We can't wait for our next event!
PICTURE DAY
Picture Day is scheduled for Tuesday, September 5th. All students will take a portrait. A couple weeks after picture day you will receive an email from Cornerstone Photography. The email will contain a proof of the picture and ordering information. There is no pre-ordering before picture day.
BELL SCHEDULE
School begins daily at 8:30 AM.
Dismissal is at 2:39 PM.
The school opens for students at 8:00 daily.
We provide breakfast service for any student that wishes to eat from 8:00 AM- 8:20 AM.

SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL AND ELAC
At Santa Susana we value the input of our school community. Parents have the ability participate in our English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) and/or our School Site Council.
ELAC will meet on the following dates:
- September 29
- October 27
- February 2
- April 26
ELAC meetings are open to the public and specifically address the needs of our English Language Learners. We meet at 9:00 AM in the MPR.
School Site Council will meet on the following dates:
- September 18
- October 23
- January 29
- April 22
School Site Council Members are elected by the school community. Meetings are held at 3:00 PM in Room 23.
CORE VALUES
At Santa Susana we use the Core Values program. We discuss a life skill or value monthly and tie our Student of the Month program to the monthly value.
Creativity is our value for the month of August- Using your imagination to do something new.
