Classroom Counseling Lessons
November - Erin's Law
The purpose of Erin’s Law is to teach students how to stay safe, to tell if someone touches them inappropriately, to decide who will touch them and what touches will be allowed or not allowed, and to learn what parts of their bodies are private and should not be touched.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact one of us and we will gladly answer any questions you may have.
We focused on each student naming 5 trusted adults. We wanted all students to choose two trusted adults from school and three trusted adults from home.
December- Bullying Lessons
All the school counselors are going in to each class and presenting a Bullying Lesson. Each child is learning about the definition of a bully and what to do if a child feels that they are being bullied. Not every situation is a bullying situation. For it to be a bullying situation, it has to meet three different criteria which are the following:
1. Someone is being mean to another person and it is a repeated occurrence.
2. The act has to be on purpose.
3. The situation shows an imbalance of power.
If a child feels that they are being bullied they need to be brave, be bold a teacher or trusted adult needs to be told. Then, the school principal or assistant principals can determine if the situation is a bullying situation by seeing if the situation meets the three different criteria.
All the counselor went over student's 5 trusted adults.
