Learn, Laugh, Leave a Legacy!
April, 2021
Dear Patterson Families,
It is that time of year for students to shine with proficiency levels and individual growth. Coming up this month we have our paper and pencil-based AzMerit state testing for grades 3rd-6th. Testing will be from Monday, April 5th through Wednesday, April 7th with a make-up day on April 8th. The 5th grade computer-based AIMS Science testing is on Tuesday, April 13th.
It is important to have students in attendance, on time, and ready for their day. If at all possible, please schedule any appointments after school, especially during this testing timeframe. Families can help students prepare for the tests by reminding them to get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy, full breakfast in order to have enough “brain fuel”. Please look for information from your child’s teacher on their specific testing days and times.
Thank you for your continued support, our students have achieved so much already this year and I have no doubt that they will continue to rise to their full potential. On behalf of our staff, thank you parents for making Patterson amazing!
Warmly,
Sarah Stephens
Principal
MASKS ARE REQUIRED
Please remember that masks are required for everyone anytime you enter a CUSD building and while at bus stops. If you do not have a mask, a disposable one can be provided to you.
FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH AVAILABLE FOR ALL STUDENTS
Thanks to CUSD’s on site meal service, all attending students can receive one free breakfast and/or one free lunch daily. There are no requirements, all children 18 and under are automatically qualified. Menus are available at the Food and Nutrition Website: https://cusdnutrition.nutrislice.com/
Classroom Treat Reminder
At times, families may want to celebrate by providing treats for their child’s classroom. Please remember that food treats must be store bought and individually packaged by the manufacturer. We also encourage families to share items such as pencils, erasers, or other small treats in lieu of food.
Thank you, families for your generosity and commitment to health and safety.
Ms. Hufford's Library Corner
We are excited to announce that we have spent book fair profits to purchase around $3,500 worth of new, library-bound books for Patterson. Some of them are already in the hands of students! Book fairs and Birthday Book Clubs are the only source of funds for new books, so we appreciate when we are able to hold those events, and you generously support them.
As a reminder, please do NOT replace lost or damaged books by purchasing or ordering a copy on Amazon or Scholastic. Those are not made to withstand multiple checkouts and rides in backpacks. When you pay for your child's lost or damaged materials, we replace them with a library-bound copy that comes with a publisher's binding guaranty.
