Battle Axes

close contact weapon that could be hurled, capable of cutting off limbs in one stroke

Crossbow

type of bows that were shot by having the string pulled back by using a lever, etc

Daggers

close contact weapon, designed to stab people, hidden in armors most of the time

Polearms

type of weapons against knights on horseback, with blades mounted on wooden poles

Longbow

type of bows with staves shaped into D-sections from a half cross section

Maces

plate armor and shields fighting weapon used to bludgeon opponents

Poleaxe

type of axes consisting of broad short blades and poles between 4 and 5 feet long

Scimitar

type of swords used to slice opponents often from horsebacks

Spears

thrusting weapon also used for hunting, consisting of shafts with sharpened heads

Swords

weapon used to thrust or strike, consisting of long metal blades and hits with hand guards

Warhammer

close contact weapon, consisting of hammer head on one side and spikes on the other

Drawbridges

bridges over moats, hinged at one end, enabled to be raised to prevent crossing / passing

Greek Fire

inflammable, combustible chemical compound, thrown at soldiers climbing castle walls

Murder Holes

holes in ceilings, gateways or passageways, defenders fire, throw or pour objects through

Portcullis

wooden, iron gates, protect defenders when lowered while under attack, from arrows

Towers

structure projecting out from walls / corners giving better view to defenders
