The Nightmare Of The Mind
Child Labour
It starts with "Taking for Granted"
School is tiring. Sports are tiring. There are a lot of things people can complain about for being tiring and hard to do. However, kids in third-world countries can't complain when their lives at stake. They can't complain about walking for five miles, working in a run-down shack. They can't complain about working for twelve hours and earning four cents a day. Child labour should be illegal because it violates all rights of a child, it forces children to do inappropriate acts and exploits children in many different ways.
Firstly, child labour violates all rights of a child because it takes away the right of education, safety, health and medical care to all children. According to the Canadian Points Of View site, "In July 2014, the death of a fifteen-year old worker in an accident at an Alberta gravel pit drew attention to child labour in Canada. In response, the Alberta Labour Federation criticized the province's child labour laws." Also, as said by the United Nations Conventions on The Rights of a Child, Article thirty-two states that "children have the right to be protected from work that harms them." On another note, a record number of one hundred and ninety-two countries have ratified the CRC.
Secondly, child labour forces children to do inappropriate acts such as prostitution and sex working. Child labour is famous for not only making children work with poor conditions but also often leads into slavery and/or prostitution and sex working. As said by the Canadian Points of View website, "child labour is often a result in human trafficking, which can lead to slavery and sexual exploitation." The United Nations Convention of the Rights of a Child said that "1.2 million children are trafficked and sold every year."
Little kids, especially girls, are forced to have sex with random strangers to get money for things like taxes, debt, hospital bills and more.
Children working in a sewing shop. As seen here, they are tired and unhappy.
Every child has a voice. Shatter the Silence. Child labour should be stopped!
Finally, child labour exploits children in many dreadful ways. Every year, children who go into the child labour industry are often exploited in many painful and dreadful ways. "At least sixty million children every year are exploited into slavery, debt-bondage, abuse and more," as said by the Canadian Points of View website. Also said by the Canadian Points of View website, many of the conditions sometimes associated with child labour are low wages, hazardous conditions and long hours.
In conclusion, child labour should be illegal in all countries because it violates all rights of a child, it forces children to do inappropriate acts and exploits children in many dreadful ways. Child labour destroys the lovely childhood and the life any human deserves. Child labour is the devil you know and it should be banished. Because no child deserves to work for something that could take their precious life away.
