Battle Cry of Freedom
Battle Cry of Freedom
The first part talks about the soldiers of the union rallying. Then they talk about shouting the battle cry of freedom. This means that they are telling the rebels that the slaves will be free. The next thing that they say is "The union forever." This means that the union wont lose the war no matter what. After that they say "down with the traitor and up with the star." This means that the confederates will fall and the union will rise. Next they say "and although they may be poor, not a man shall be a slave." This means that no matter what a person is like they should never be a slave. Finnaly they say "so we're springing to the call from the East and from the West." This means that there are people coming to fight from all over the country.
