Principal's Weekly Newsletter
This morning Mrs. Stone's kindergartners learned about Leader in Me Habit 1: Be Proactive. They learned that you can be proactive by "choosing your own weather."
All said they chose to be happy today!

Leader in Me provides our school with the vision and language to lead the school in a way that addresses all areas of development including our Catholic Faith and social-emotional learning (SEL). I am impressed with what it means to our staff and students to carry the torch as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School.
Leader in Me meshes extremely well with practices that have traditionally been a larger part of the St. Patrick learning environment and Catholic teaching. It’s a perfect fit for us. During the year our staff and students will be incorporating the 7 Habits and 5 SEL Competencies into Monday Morning Prayer, Leader in Me class periods, and regular classroom activities. The social-emotional competencies include self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, responsible decision-making, and social awareness. Check out the graphic below. In a future letter I will share more about how we are using this framework for goal setting this year.
A large part of our Leader in Me implementation revolves around student leadership jobs. Each student will have at least one of the 28 leadership roles available this year. All of our leadership jobs are designed to give our students ownership and commitment to our school community. Job offer letters are going home with students this afternoon. This weekend, ask your children what team or teams they will be serving on. Teams will meet on Tuesday and I look forward to hearing the ideas our students will bring forth.

Excellence
Ms. Hill's math students brought the number line to life this morning. What a fun way to understand fractions, decimals, and positive and negative numbers. Who knew that drafting tape makes the perfect number line!

Football Bash Update
Way to go! We are at 935 tickets plus a number of donations. We need to sell 185 more tickets to reach the ice cream party challenge set by CPTO. Thank you for all you have done. Tickets purchased next week are still eligible for 16 weeks of fun and prizes! Let's do this and move closer to replacing the rubber mulch on our playground. Congratulations to our first group of winners!
Our parish does so much to support our school. We ask families, teachers, and staff to lend a helping hand to say "thank you!" Opportunities are available for students and adults to volunteer and donate baked goods, etc. Maybe your child would like to bake cookies for service hours, assist with dinner, or help with the pumpkin painting or games!
Volunteer at the festival.
All are invited to enjoy the festival! Advance tickets are at a discount and help the committee plan for the right amount of food. You get to skip the ticket line and go right into the gym for turkey dinner too! Buy discounted turkey dinner tickets online today.
