Poway High School Engineering Academy
PHS ENGINEERING ACADEMY/PATHWAY INFO NIGHT (WED, Feb. 10, 2021, from 7 pm to 8 pm via Zoom): This is an opportunity to hear how the program is helping current students and how the Poway High School Engineering Academy/Pathway is making a difference toward their college and career goals. You will learn about what courses to enroll to start the Academy or Pathway. There will also be a presentation about updates in the Academy and an overview of the program and pathway. There will be a question-and-answer period.
Please see the PHS website for the Zoom Link under announcements: PHS Engineering Academy Info Nights or the attached flyer.
Beginning February 1, students will be taking the i-Ready diagnostic assessment. This assessment is unique in that it will give us specific information about what your child knows and what he/she needs to work on next in math and reading. The purpose of this assessment is not to give your child a score or grade, but instead to determine how best to support your child’s learning.
Students will take the reading assessment the weeks of February 1-February 12, and the math assessment the weeks of February 15-26. Students will take the i-Ready assessment over the course of multiple days in 60-minute segments. English and math teachers will be proctoring the assessment live over Zoom during the first part of their instructional block. Students will access the i-Ready assessment by going to MyPlan and finding the i-Ready icon.
In regular circumstances, students take their i-Ready assessments at school, but during these special times they might need your help in providing a supportive environment to take assessments at home. The i-Ready diagnostic assessment is an adaptive assessment and students are only expected to answer 50% of the questions correctly. It is important that you do not help your child with understanding or answering questions. Your child will benefit from your support and encouragement to ensure the information received accurately reflects what they know and what they need to work on next.

Fall testing results for parents can be access by following the steps below:

Click the Student Report Center icon in the parent's MyPlan account.

Message from our Counseling Team
Meadowbrook kicked off another school-wide Community of Kindness lesson this week with this month’s focus being “Names Matter’. Mustangs were given the opportunity in their advisory class to build deeper connections by learning more about their classmates and sharing more about their names as it relates to their identities. Students watched a video on the importance of names and discussed how taking the time to get to know others in this way can help continue to build our diverse Community of Kindness at Meadowbrook.
