Dear Parents,
Football season is upon us, and I love to watch football. I was raised in a small town called Nederland, TX, which is in the Beaumont/Pt.Arthur area. There are only seven schools, and all students go to one high school. Friday night football was and still is the main event in our town. Both of my parents were educators for 38 years in Nederland, and they each worked every Friday night game; my mother sold tickets and my father was an administrator on duty. In fact, my mother STILL sells tickets, and this is her 48th year. Our entire town dresses in black and gold on Fridays, and school spirit is something that starts from birth. I still get excited when I hear a drumline play or the whistle blow to start the game. Having pride in our school and our town made growing up much more enjoyable.
We want our students and our families to have that same pride in Hairgrove. We are committed to our students and their learning, and we try to build in that pride with excellent instruction. In addition, we show our pride with spirit shirts on Fridays. Students who haven’t purchased a spirit shirt can make one by using a marker or paints and putting an H or a dolphin on their shirt. Students can also show their pride for being here every day they are not sick. Attendance is a huge focus for our district and our campus. There is so much learning that takes place every day, and a student can fall behind quickly. Please help show your pride for Hairgrove by sending your children to school every day they are not sick. Together, let’s show our Hairgrove spirit!

PICTURE DAY IS MONDAY, OCTOBER 14!
IXL at Home! How Awesome!
Is your child in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade? If so, they have the option to use IXL, our reading and writing program, at home! This program is skill-based practice that is grouped by grade level, skill type, and then increases in rigor. Your students have their own individual login and password for the program. Feel free to ask your student to bring it home or contact your child’s reading/writing teacher for help with their login information. See the following information for more about logging in and what IXL has to offer!
Car Riders
Morning Car Riders:
Please say your goodbyes and have your child ready to exit the passenger side of the vehicle. This will help keep the line running smoothly and efficiently.
Afternoon car riders:
Please have your car rider number displayed from the rear view mirror when you enter the parking lot and leave it hanging there until your child is safely inside of your vehicle. Having the number hanging allows it to be easily seen by all staff members and keeps the car rider line running smoothly and efficiently.

ART UPDATE
Hello Dolphins! Now that we are in the groove of school, I am excited to see your artistic talents as we ‘Take a Journey Through Art’ and tap into our creativity this year. In our Art Studio, we are going to experiment with a variety of art materials to make visual stories to share with all!
Artfully yours,
Ms. Bell – Art Specialist
